Done while you were typing the request! :-)
Even off at school I AM that good. :naughty:
-
Wow. I thought he was going to start voting with the Republicans all of a sudden.
-
Well, it's about time. Specter's been a RINO since I've been following politics.
-
It's about time. He already votes like a Dem anyway.
-
Wow. I thought he was going to start voting with the Republicans all of a sudden.
That's where my mind went too. Words mean something.
-
I knew the effects of that brain tumor would eventually bring him all the way over. It was only a matter of time.
-
All this does is make official what he's been doing all along. But more than that, he's ducking and running from a formidable opponent in Pat Toomey.
This, more than anything else, reveals the length and breadth that these ****tards in the cesspool known as Washington D.C. will go to get reelected.
-
So, PA CCers...how does this affect the 2010 race in PA? Will he now face a serious Dem challenger? Will the PA GOP nut up and find someone to bitchslap this guy back?
-
I hope the timing on this works out as badly for him as possible, and he is swept away with a tide of Obama remorse.
-
Well, this is all too bad, but I guess it can't be helped.
Specter's pretty old; surely that's going to count against him, although it didn't count against Jr. from Vermont (the ancient Senator Sanders), and anything can happen.
But I suspected his sheer age was going to defeat him, no matter what he did.
-

With Murtha's continual reelection, time after time after time, dunno about that. Kinda wondering if there is any semblance of sanity in the Keystone State anymore.
-

He was getting a serious run for reelection from Toomey, which is why he switched. I'm betting that there is a deal with the Dim Party that no one will run against him on their ticket.
-
What is the point of him changing parties at this point? :loser:
-

As has been pointed out, so that he can be reelected. If he stayed Republican, his chances of winning his next election weren't looking good.
-
Plus now it gives Dingy Harry a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

Plus now it gives Dingy Harry a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.
On paper, yeah, but I think there just might be one or two Dems out there that don't conform to Obamabotism.
ETA: Um, maybe still two votes away from the Magic 60.
-
No, no, no. He's not switching parties. He's just changing the letter after his name to reflect the party he actually already belongs to.
-
"Luke, come to the Dark side. You will be rewarded."
-

I understand, as well as making the Senate filibuster proof. I'm wondering if Rahm sent him a pile of cash to switch over.
I'm just speculating, but hasn't Specter been a Republican for most of his public life? I vaguely recall hearing that he may have been a Dem long ago, or maybe I'm confusing him with someone else.
-

Chris Matthews was talked about as a possible D candidate. Now we know why he backed out. Even as stupid as my fellow Pennsylvanians are, I don't think Specter would have had a prayer in the Republican primary. It'll probably be Toomey. The only reason Toomey didn't beat Specter in the primary last time is that Bush and Santorum stumped for Specter. It was Santorum's biggest political mistake, and it cost him his seat.
That said, I for one would LOVE to see Santorum get back into PA politics, but I'll happily vote for Toomey.
Of course, residents of my state are, for the most part, morons, so we may be looking at another Specter win. :whatever:
-
One more thing, Specter you asshole:
If you're "not defined by party," why not jump to independent? Why did you have to hand the 60th vote to the dims?
:hammer:
-
Well since Sphincter and presumably Smally have gone over, he does have a filibuster proof congress. Universal Healthcare, here we come...buckle up and hold on....it's not gonna be pretty.
-
Well I would hope the GOP big wigs consider withdrawing their support for Spectre now, especially Cornyn
-
What a self serving "public servant" The capitol needs to be flushed.
-

Yes, it was him. He started out as a Dem in PA....and has voted as one. So he went back home....still, his timing couldn't have been worse.
-
On paper, yeah, but I think there just might be one or two Dems out there that don't conform to Obamabotism.
ETA: Um, maybe still two votes away from the Magic 60.
With Obama's Comfort Girls (Snowe and Collins) still in the Senate? Obummer has his 60, fear not. Or should I say, fear greatly.
-
"I am unwilling to have my twenty-nine year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate," he said in the statement.
Say what now? :bird:
-
Say what now? :bird:
He has let them judge it for ... 29 years now..
-
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Now if only Snowe and Collins would follow suit.
-
Good, they can have him. He is an embarrassment to the people in PA with an IQ higher than 42. I hope he gets seriously trounced in the next election. I would freaking vote for my dog over that bum anyday.

Unfortunately, the people in PA (I'm a resident) are morons. Look at some of the comments here (http://www.philly.com/philly/news/breaking/20090428_Sen__Arlen_Specter_will_swith_parties__run_as_Democrat_in_2010.html?viewAll=Y&text=#comments).

I keep saying vote out all incumbents...2010!!! :-)

A man can dream, can't he? One positive thing is that in switching parties, it means the Dems have to kick their own former heir apparent to the curb to run Specter, which could (hopefully) blow up on the little ass-biters (Including Arlen) in the primaries and possibly carry over bad blood to the general election.

:banghead:
That is Philly, that isn't REALLY part of PA. That is like the inbred crap eating cousin that no one will claim at the family reunion. My county goes republican most elections. Maybe we could convince Philly to secede to NJ or something.
-
On paper, yeah, but I think there just might be one or two Dems out there that don't conform to Obamabotism.

Tester is the 1st one that comes to mind.
-
Curiously how this came the day after the NYC 0Bama Air Farce 1 attack. Sure knocked that off of FNC.
-
With Obama's Comfort Girls (Snowe and Collins) still in the Senate? Obummer has his 60, fear not. Or should I say, fear greatly.
On that basis, then yes, agreed.

Certainly! And I hope the whole thing does blow up in their faces. But with backroom deals between Specter/Reid going on and the promise of the full weight of the Dem party and the love fest still celebrated by the MSM, I ain't holding my breath.
Any rumor of Santorum getting back into the fray? :naughty:
-
Wow. I thought he was going to start voting with the Republicans all of a sudden.
Now THAT actually would have been news. This....this is just making what he already was official. Seriously, did no one see this was going to happen? He has been licking Obama's back side ever since he slithered into the WH.
I agree with the earlier post, take Snowe and Collins with you and we will even throw a party for you!
-
Adios, Arlen. Selling your soul for 30 pieces of silver is never a good deal.
.
-
Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out Mr. Sphincter, you useless sack of shit.
-
Good riddance you liberal piece of shit.
-
DefiantSix and 9outof10 both get H5 for being short and to the point.... :rotf:

Specter the Defector

Arlen Specter was a Democrat always. We don't need him.

Term Limits....The only reason he is switching is to improve his chances of getting re-elected. We HAVE to get rid of career poli****ingticians.
-
Yes, indeed, Rockurworld. The man is 80 and has battled cancer twice. He's hardly robust material to represent large amounts of people. He shouldn't even represent the pottery-and-weaving coalition at the nursing home. They just CANNOT give up the grip on power. Look at all the doddering fools we've had in there up to their dying breath.
On the subject of this thread, if anyone would like to see some good battles with lefty trolls, they can be seen at moonbattery.com.

Any Philly peeps tune into Smerconish this morning? What did he have to say about Specter? He's one of Specter's biggest fanboys out there.
I can't listen to Smerconish since his "surprise" :whatever: announcement that he was supporting teh chosen one...
-
He was a Republican? :???:
-
He was a Republican? :???:
Not really. He played one on TV once in a great while, but that was quite some time ago.
-
I think Sphincter should have to go through the same bullshit that the Dems made Ben Nighthorse Campbell go through when he switched from Dem to Rep.
They DUmmies demanded that Colorado hold a special election to determine if - in denying his Demonroach roots - he was still "representing the will of the people". Campbell won handily, but the election cost the State of Colorado a pretty penny, just to jump through another DemonRoach hoop.
I think Sphincter sould have to stand for a special election now, and STILL have to defend "his" seat in 2010.
-
The guy is clearly old and senile.
At 79 years old, he should just retire.
-

Hopefully the voters will simply retire him next year.
-
Watch the democrat party break their word and put up a challenger against Spectard in 2010 if he doesn't toe the party line. I do think he's senile, so he ought to do well in returning home.
He was claiming just a month ago that there was "no way" he'd ever switch party affiliations, and Bush went all out to help him back in 2004, last time he was in deep trouble. He's home now.

Hi,
Specter is nothing but a poster child for TERM LIMITS.
Personally I am glad he is gone. Now BO can get everything he wants and the republicans, if they are smart, will all vote no on everything so he owns it all, lock stock and barrel. Eventually it will kick them all in the ass.

http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/donors_specter_refund/2009/04/30/209260.html
Things are going to get really interesting for specter now.
Since he readily agreed to return that one senators $5,000 donation when he demanded a refund on the floor of the senate, a precedent has been set and specter is probably going to wind up BROKE by the time he gets through returning all of the campaign donations he has received since his last re-election bid.
