'MEXICO CITY/GENEVA (Reuters) – A new flu strain that has killed up to 68 people in Mexico could become a pandemic, the World Health Organization warned on Saturday, as health experts tried to track the disease's spread.
Hospitals tested patients with flu symptoms for the never-before-seen virus, which has also infected eight people in the United States. No further deaths had come to light since Friday afternoon, but officials warned the person-to-person infections meant there was a risk of a major outbreak.
"It has pandemic potential because it is infecting people," WHO Director-General Margaret Chan said in Geneva.
"However, we cannot say on the basis of currently available laboratory, epidemiological and clinical evidence whether or not it will indeed cause a pandemic."
The new flu strain -- a mixture of swine, human and avian flu viruses -- is still poorly understood and the situation is evolving quickly, Chan said." Link (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090425/ts_nm/us_flu_24)
0Bama was recently in Mexico, and Lord knows that he's been spreading pork around around the country, so he should be isolated in a sound proof, air tight container for a minimum of six weeks.
On a serious note, this is just another reason to secure the border. Of course , it didn't happen when an outbreak of TB was traced to Mexico either. :banghead:

Of course not even a potentially lethal virus will close the border...

.Obama’s Visit
The first case was seen in Mexico on April 13. The outbreak coincided with the President Barack Obama’s trip to Mexico City on April 16. Obama was received at Mexico’s anthropology museum in Mexico City by Felipe Solis, a distinguished archeologist who died the following day from symptoms similar to flu, Reforma newspaper reported. The newspaper didn’t confirm if Solis had swine flu or not.
The Mexican government is distributing breathing masks to curtail the disease’s spread. There is no vaccine against the new strain of swine flu, health authorities said.
If he died the day after, that means he was infectious when he met with Obama...

Can't tamiflu kill it off? I feel like an idiot at this point because I wonder if the timing wasn't interesting with this break out. I hope that the death toll stays low in this outbreak anyway.
-
If that Obama character gets sick and dies from the Pelosi Flu, how are we going to blame Bush? I wonder if his death certificate will be hidden from the public too?

:thatsright: Then we'll never know if he's really dead!

Shoot, we don't even know if he was ever born, or if he sprang forth as is from the bowels of hell.

There have been cases of swine flu in Texas, California, Kansas, and New York. The CA case traveled to Texas and probably caught it from a relative or family friend. So far no one has died here in America. We should be very alert on this. This is unusual because flu season should be over. However, flu outbreaks have happened in the summer, when it is very dry.
-
Sounds like this could be 1918 all over again, except that it will spread much quicker.

I've heard that they are monitoring 0Bama very closely. He is walking around with a remote reading rectal thermometer to give his doctors real time temperatures.
Curious, that 0Bama met one of the first victims of the disease, maybe he is the carrier and this flu is a new "super bug" created by the US. :uhsure:

Because we are better people than that. The most you can do is hope that phony-ass socialist gets real sick for a long time and then recovers.
Personally, I hope no one gets sick. Not a Little Goon or their leader.
(I can see the teleprompter now: :cough-cough: :couggggghhhhh: :choke-cough: :gasp: )

One moron commented about this story in the on-line version of our local rag after I commented that "the dear leader" should seal the border.
He/She/It commented that there already were cases in the U.S. They went onto stating that it was up to the CDC and the WHO to seal the border and impose travel restrictions.
I responded by asking if the U.S. had to WAIT and ask PERMISSION of the UN to do anything on our own.
What is it with liberturds? The U.S. has to ask PERMISSION from the UN or the WHO before we can secure our borders to prevent it from spreading further into the U.S.???????

Flu or no flu, I think he should do that anyway.
It will be better for everyone.

At least until the swine flu mutates into a computer virus.

Subpoenas from the Secret Service are even more lame. The people that own this site are not interested in that kind of attention.
-
What we ought to do is mass produce the SWINE FLU in aerosol form, perform a RANCH HAND style op via B-2 and spray every muslim nation so they all get SWINE flu.

"Pictured: The four-year-old Mexican boy living near 'ground zero' pig farm who may hold the key to swine flu outbreak
(http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/04/28/article-1174270-04B452FA000005DC-119_468x325.jpg)
A four-year-old boy from a small Mexican village was last night named as the earliest confirmed victim of swine flu so far.
Edgar Hernandez - who has since recovered - fell sick on April 2 - nearly two weeks before anybody even knew the virus existed.
He is from the village of La Gloria, whose residents say officials ignored their warnings of an unexplained outbreak for weeks.
A staggering 60 per cent of the 3,000 residents of La Gloria - which lies in the shadow of a massive U.S-owned pig farm - reported getting sick, including three children aged under two, who later died.
Villagers say state officials and factory bosses claimed the outbreak was caused by chilly weather and dust in the air.
Although many others fell ill earlier than Edgar, none have yet been confirmed as having had swine flu. By last night, the overall death toll in Mexico stood at 152." 60% of the people got sick, and the government ignored it? Hey 0Bama, the Mexican government is giving you competition for incompetence. Well, their trying anyway.

Well, I've been affected by the Swine Flu....
My Cozumel port has been cancelled and now awaiting info from the cruise line to find out where the replacement port will be. :evillaugh:

I'm wondering why all the terror hype. Our own CDC describes the symtoms as "mild". This may be a big nothing.

Unless this suddenly turns more deadly, I too think it is being over hyped . More people have died from the "normal flu" in this same period as have died from the swine flu.

As I predicted:
CDC says Texas swine flu death is first in U.S.
The first reported death in the United States from the swine flu outbreak was that of a 23-month-old Mexico City boy who fell ill in Brownsville and was transported for treatment at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, where he died Monday, officials said.
Dr. David Persse, director of the city's emergency medical services, said the acutely ill child was admitted to a Brownsville hospital on April 13 and immediately was rushed by medical transport to Houston.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, the boy already had "several underlying health problems" before he flew to Matamoros on April 4 and crossed into Brownsville to visit relatives.
The boy came down with a fever April 8, followed by other flu-like symptoms, the state said.
Persse learned of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmation of the virus before dawn this morning. Other people accompanying the child have shown no signs of illness, and the boy was not known to be sick when he crossed the border, Persse said.

You know better than to ask a question like that. The U.S. taxpayer, of course! Why? Because Dear Leader insists on spending money left and right! No amount is too large!

You have to wonder if many of the suspected cases are nothing more than typical 'Montezuma's Revenge".

I'm inclined to believe that this Flu scare is in order to distract us from something else that is going on. I've heard that the WHO will raise the pandemic level to level 6 within the next couple of days.
