Title: Miss Mia's Happy Hour Spankyouverymuch
Post by: Miss Mia on April 24, 2009, 08:26:42 PM
Okay, day started off good.  After work I went to Kohl's to look for some dress shirts.  Oh HOLY CRAP!  Apparently "they" decided that ruffles are in style.  RUFFLES!  In a little over an hour, I found 1, ONE!, shirt that was some what suitable, but I'm not that happy with it and a pair of shoes.

Now, tomorrow I have to go to Penny's which means the dreaded freaking mall.  THE MALL!

Embrace the ruffle.  It says "I am woman"

Oh I'm dreading it.  I haven't been to the mall in years.

Seriously?  Ruffles.  That's all I gotta say.  It was horrible.  I have this thing to do in the morning, I don't know how long it will take, and then straight to the mall.

I like being a girl.  I just don't like ruffles.  I like more simple and classic clothing.

I love Kohl's and Penneys. But I'm with you! I want to meet the ghey fashion designer who decided that some of these crazy getups are in style!! You can either choose from the following I've noticed: Cheesy Junior wear that's in horribly loud colors with crazy sayings on it (I call this the Prostitot Look), Matronly Mother in Law stuff with elastic in the waistband, or somewhat decent looking outfits that are made for a 89lb giraffe. LOL! Ah, life at under five feet is so fun!!

This is why I like being a guy. We can get by with khakis and a button down. Or a suit, if we have to dress up.

Oh you Annie Hall girls.  You will never rediscover real fashion.   :p

All I want are some simple button down long sleeved dress shirts.  Black, white with stripes or blue (royal or navy).  That's what I'm looking for, and apparently impossible.  I'm gonna go to Penneys and New York & Company.  They had a lot of peachish orangeish stuff today.  :(

Yeah.  The shirt I have on today is the shirt I wore to my younger daughter's wedding rehearsal in May 1999, 'cept it had long sleeves then.

It's for my impending interview and for my final presentation in my management class.  It's best that I dress more conservatively for both.  :)  I purchased a very nice Banana Republic black A-line suiting skirt already.

I'm looking for a simple button down.   :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Oh, and I'll be getting up at 5:30 tomorrow morning, so by the time I make it to the mall I'll be sleepy and pissy.  It'll be fun for me AND everyone there.   :-)

I WAS a Mall kinda girl....but something happened 3 or 4 years ago.  Now I dread it.

I also like classic type clothing that never goes out of style...I was never into fads...I might buy a fad accessory...but I stay pretty simple in dress.

If I had to pick from those two, I'd say New York & Company would be your best bet.  I've bought an interview outfit there a time or two (nice jacket and a cute button-up dress shirt to go with some NY&C dress pants I already owned.  I have to stay away from that place, though... I love their clothes. :p

I used to be a mall girl myself... worshipped at the altar that is the Mall of Georgia. But I'm flat broke now, so no more mall fun for me. :(

I like New York & Company, I've bought a lot of clothes there.  I'll head there first.  I'm checking out their website now, looks very promising.  :)

Fracking sweet. I went and grabbed a book off my bookshelf and saw that I had put a bookmark in there the last time I started reading it. Opened it up and it turned out to be a $100 savings bond from over 2 years ago.  :hyper:

This is a good thing because I paid my last tuition payment today and only had about $20 until May sometime when I get my GI Bill payment.

Cool. I once found a $100 bill sitting in a mud puddle outside my bank one day.  It was after midnight and nobody was around, so I kept it.  Spent just fine after it dried out.

That's weird, I lost a $100 bill outside of the bank one rainy day.  :p :p

Hey...I was at Kohls last night, too!  Looking for something to wear to the Gala at SERBA in a couple weeks.  Epic fail.  But I did find a pair of capris and shorts that I liked.  I must have tried on 50 things.   Good news...I'm down 1-2 sizes, depending on the brand!

Also got $20 bucks on Kohls bucks to go spend next week!

I'm gonna hit NY&Co today, I'm trying to decide between the good (but busy and packed) mall or the ghetto one that always has stuff and isn't so busy.  LOL!

Who ever thought ruffles were great wasn't wearing them!  :bird:

When I was pregnant back in the late 70's and early 80's.....maternity tops all had ruffles on them at the collar and sleeves. There's something just wrong about gaining 80 pounds and having to put ruffles on top of the beachball that has developed where you used to see hip bones.  :bawl:

Hey Mia....you might also check with Sears. I think they carry Land's End stuff in the store, and Land's End does still have women's dress shirts. Also check in the boy's department at Penney's. Since I have discovered Ross's and Marshall's, I rarely go to the mall. I was there during the holidays looking for something specific and that was my last visit.

I've been to Ross, but I'd rather wade through the freaking mall than go there.  I checked NY&Co online last night and they have quite a bit just like what I'm looking for.

As for the boy's dept, why aren't you a sweetie!  But I don't think the boys dept has shirts that would accommodate the sisters on top.

When I worked for ALCOA a guys wife got drunk at a Christmas party and told alot of his co-workers that he liked to wear her undergarmets. One day at work, when he reached over to pick something up, it became obvious that the rumor was true and he was wearing lace. He ended up with the nick name "RUFFLES"

A few years later the guy stood up during diversity training and announced that he no longer wanted to be called Joe, and he was now Heather. He ended up in Eurpoe and had his shit cut off...he was vice president of the union.  :lmao:

I always knew he did not have the balls to take a grievance to arbitration.  :rotf:

Malls?  What are those?  I seem to recall passing by one going to/from work...

I also seem to recall there being one in Kittery, but that was a long time ago.  That might not be there anymore.  Yeah, pretty sad when you think about living in an area where "dress code" means you wear shoes AND socks.
