1. Yesterdy, at Harris Teeter, they had beef back ribs for $1.99/lb. I was tempted, but they also had a sale on Smithfield baby back ribs - buy 1, get 1 free. My friend and I went in on that one together, and I ended up with an incredibly meaty slab, all vacuum-packed, for $8.00. So did he.
Safeway's selling back ribs - I bet they're Smithfield - according to your ad, for $3.99/lb. That's a good price.
HT also had gorgeous Boston butt roasts on sale for $1.99/lb. Must be a good season for pork.
There will be some wonderful smells around here this weekend. I just whomped up a big batch of Cold Hot Noodles, Vidalias are in ($.49/lb. at HT) and I have 15 pounds - wrap one of these beauties, weighing almost one pound, in foil after rubbing it with olive oil, baked it at 400 for about an hour, and it's like eating a vegetable made out of butter.
Chicken thighs were on sale, too, for a buck a pound! I got a bunch of them, and soon will be doing a dry rub on them. Plus, we got lots of Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce, which - I learned this from a pal who worked in a big BBQ restaurant in Cincinnati - you mix half and half with hoisin sauce, and you end up with some serious taste. It will be hot and sunny here this weekend, and there will be meat.
You gonna get some of those ribs, Stinky? The grill is beckoning, is it not?

Must be a good season for pork? Hmmm, could it be all those ppl who are afraid of getting Piggie Flu from eating pork has caused the grocery to run specials? Not sure, but it seems like this is a possibility. Or else, like my grocery, Publix, they just run lots of sales on meat. The prices are good, I have seen better, don't know what part of the country they are talking about, tho.
