62. They aren't exactly the same.
Taste is comparable but the smokes themselves are lighter. They don't have the strength of the U.S. version and I notice they don't have the auto die-out chemicals the U.S. smokes have, they burn cleaner.

75. My Point Is That They Are Still Premium Brand Name Smokes For A Quarter The Price.
The taste is still comparable enough and after 2 packs you notice no difference whatsoever.

80. They are well worth the savings.
But they definitely are lighter than the U.S. product and they do not burn out like the U.S. ones do. My wife has noticed it too. Whatever they treat the tobacco with here they do not treat it with there. I'm thinking this is probably a good thing.

83. Personally I Didn't Find Them Lighter, At Least From This Site Anyway.
When I get irresponsible and don't reorder in time and buy a pack of locals, i don't even realize I made a change.

86. I just did a bit of googling.
Your standard Marlboro has 16 Tar and 1.1 Nic in the U.S. product and only 10 Tar and .8 Nic in the Ukrainian product. Apparently their regulars are lights and their lights are ultra-lights.

29. Do Not Let The Above Poster Discourage You.
The cigarettes are of the same quality and as with any crop grown in a different region may have SLIGHTLY different tastes, overall I guarantee you'd notice zero difference. Less than 20 bucks delivered. Same ACTUAL brand, same company, just grown in a different region. You have my 100% satisfaction guarantee. The Marlboros are 100% spot on and I'm sure the camels are too. These are NOT generics. They are made by the same company. Do you think Marlboro only produces marlboros in the US?
Don't let the poster scare you. In today's economy, the money you save will be a godsend. That's why I'm posting it. They are manufactured under the same strict guidelines and are not knockoffs. They're you're very same camels, for a third of the price. Go for it!

12. I don't smoke but there is a wrong here and buying cheap doesn't fix it.
If you want children to have health care paid for by taxes then be willing to pay the taxes, don't lay them on one group because you think they should stop doing something like smoking!
It is not fair to pile taxes on taxes on a product for a societal good we all agree on.
We all need to pay for it!

15. As higher taxes cause more people to quit, then your tax collections go down. Why not tax the hell out of tofu? You know why? Because the ****ing politicians can sell it better that way.
Now here's a paradox. My hometown of Raleigh, NC, after imposing water use restrictions, now wants to raise water usage rates by 17% b/c of the revenue they lost from their own mandate. It boggles my mind.

43. Agreed. Further, it is absolute idiocy to fund programs we want and need on the backs of behaviors we are trying- with some actual success- to eliminate.
I mean, seriously. I can think of little that is dumber, from a budgetary standpoint. The tax revenues from tobacco should have gone only and always to tobacco cessation programs- NOT schools, health care, or anything else we actually need. If we want to eliminate tobacco use, we need to not fund anything of any importance on the taxes generated by tobacco consumption.
Plus, smokers can legitimately say that they're paying above and beyond the taxes paid by nonsmokers for those programs funded, in part, by tobacco taxes. That's a perfect "so go stuff it" argument. It's even not too far a stretch to argue that the children of smokers (if tobacco taxes are funding child health care, in this example) should receive an extra benefit, above and beyond what the children of nonsmokers receive from the same programs because their parents use tobacco and therefore pay more into the program.
And on and on, etc., etc., ad nauseum.
We never should have started paying for necessary programs with tobacco taxes in the first place, be it even 1% of the take from the extra tax dollars smokers pay. I bet the public is just as addicted to those tax dollars as the smoker is to their cigarettes. If you want to prove that wrong, go ahead and try to reduce the tax or redirect the funding. I dare any legislator, with my condescending and self-assured cute little giggle, to try that, and see just how far they get.

14. Seems like the perfect tax to me
Cigarette taxes are "voluntary," they pay back a society that suffers so much because of "individual choices" (read: addiction), and lets the corporation off scot-free for marketing and manufacturing a deadly, addictive product. But by golly, keep supporting tobacco company lies, right into an early grave! That'll show everyone!

When they divorced one of the things they fought about was the $8,000 tax bill the state sent them after the seller was audited.

Online retailers in the US have to report. Overseas don't. The site I listed is 100% anonymous and the couple you mentioned would've had ZERO tax burden because they never would've been exposed.

58. No, that's breaking the law
Michigan comes down HARD on people who buy cigs on the internet.
God knows, if I break the law they will hunt me down and make me pay. My name isn't Cheney, so I can't steal tax dollars and get away with it.
For the record, when in the socialist paradises of the workers and peasants, franksolich never smoked these knock-offs of American products. When I had money, I smoked Belomor Kanals. When I was broke, I smoked mahorka.

Yes they do! Most folks now just hop onto I-75 or US23 and cross the border into Ohio or they go to Indiana! :uhsure: :-)

DUmmies=Tax everyone and everything except me and mine. :whatever:

Why is it that they seem to grasp that high taxes discourage and reduce that which is being taxed yet in the next second believe that wealthy or businesses will happily go on paying them forever?
The disconnect of holding two opposing ideas as equally true mystifies me.

If you and I, sir, could ever figure that out, we'd make millions, on a book, on a movie, on a musical, on a Broadway play, on a television comedy series.
But alas, if we're fated to be millionaires, it won't be because of that.

Exactly my thought - for a bunch of folks who love OTaxation and make fun of 'teabaggers' they can't wait to avoid paying taxes themselves.
-
Because they know the evil rich can afford to pay the taxes and that they'll never get to that level of living. But hit 'em with an extra tax that they now have to pay and listen to them whine about it. I think the tax is wrong. I don't smoke any more, but, still the law of unintended consequeces will come into play as people who don't want to pay the tax quit smoking, the tax burden will shift back to the evil rich. I'm reading "Atlas Shrugged" right now. Its uncanny how you can compare the attitude in the book to the attitude of today.

I say remove the tax on tobacco and place it somewhere else. Maybe on Cheetos.
I'm all for a $7 per bag tax on Cheetos.
First, Cheetos aren't very healthy.
Second, and most importantly, I don't eat them.
-
I say we make taxes voluntary. with one hitch. only those who pay taxes can use public services like libraries, parks, buses, welfare etc etc
