Title: Post-Tax-Day Happy Hour... Friday, April 17th, 23:03 EST
Post by: Chris on April 17, 2009, 10:03:32 PM
Just got home from work and feel like dirt.  I think I have a brain cloud.

A case of beer (mostly) and a bottle of some whisky-flavored chocolate milk are my friends tonight.  Where are yours?

Some of my friends are dead.  Some are alive, but live far away.  Some of my friends have drifted away from my life with the tide of time.  That's life, I guess.  Life is change.  How it differs from the rocks.

I wish I had some cranberry juice to mix with the vodka.... *sighs* and I don't feel like going to the 24 hour Kroger. :(

Largemouth bass.
Fishing in Alaska ruined me for fishing anywhere else.  Maybe I should give it a try again.  My large kayak has rod-holders and seperate compartments for fish and gear.  It's like riding in a Cadillac.

On a happier note:  Tomorrow is the annual community garage sale in my daughter's little hamlet between Terrell and Forney.  It's a gas.  About two hundred or so garage sales going at the same time.  There will be BBQ and hot dogs and Ice cream and all kinds of shhh...stuff going on.  I plain to make a day of it.  I am looking for some specific items and I hope to get them cheapcheapcheap.

uh, no!   :mental:  :hammer:

Co-worker was giving me some ideas on what to do with what's left of the Skyy Vodka I have, after my mixing of Cherry Dr. Pepper and the vodka ended in failure.  They suggested cranberry juice and triple sec to make a martini.

Yeah, that would be nice. Fishing anywhere is always good for me, though.

Rodman was fired off The Celebrity Apprentice due to his heavy love of vodka and cranberry juice mixed together.

Sounds like a blast. I've always liked garage sales, but I do think that they will take on a different face in the upcoming days. Less junk, probably more treasures and more bargains.

But that could change... if we still have a Chattanooga CC meet-up, I'm planning on doing an Irish Car Bomb, and the others are going to have to carry me back to my hotel room...  :uhsure:   :lmao:

I got some nice stuff last year.  It's a nice area.  All expensive homes.  Maybe you're right.  I may clean up.  There's nothing more American than helping out those in need.

Indeed, there will be bargains out there. A high school friend of mine (from facebook) is trying to sell a mid 60s Ford Falcon, royal blue. She paid 9k, but looking at selling it for 7k. If it were a convertible, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Mmmmm, Irish Car Bomb sounds so good right now:

1/2 Shot(s) of Irish cream (Bailey's)
1/2 Shot(s) of Whiskey - Irish (Jameson)
1/2 Pint(s) of Guinness stout

Speaking of one of those drinks, a customer brought his kids to my register, and the little girl was telling me her name.... Jameson.  Who names their children after Irish Whiskey?!  :o :lmao:

Add some a tiny bit of Roses Lime Juice to it, and you will have a Cosmopolitan. Be careful though...they go down really easy and sneak up on you with a sledge hammer.....I speak from experience! :thatsright:

Had an exciting day! Got up, got 2 reports done...was talking with a friend on the phone about planting flowers....and had a brain snap!

I forgot that I had promised to make dinner for my clients who bought the big house and all their moving help!!!

He's a professor at UT and a bunch of his grad students were helping them move today...so at 11:30  this morning, I remembered I had volunteered to provide dinner for 30 people :thatsright: :thatsright:

Met the friend I was on the phone with on the north side of town, I had to do a drive by shoot....so she went with me, then found some plants at K Mart that I've been wanting. We went to Salsarita's for a quick lunch, shopped for flowers at Home Depot and Lowe's, then I had to come back to my side of town to Sam's, got everything I needed for dinner tonight. Got home at 5:30 and was at my clients' by 8:20!!

I did chips and salsa, 2 pans of lasagna, blackened chicken and rotini in cream sauce, 4 cheese tortollini w red and yellow peppers and spinach in alfredo sauce, 2 HUGE bowls of romaine with sliced mushrooms, a blend of romano, parmesean and pecorino cheeses and italian dressing, a ton of garlic bread, lemon cream pound cake, 3 chocolate pound cake, sliced strawberries and whipped cream. Pop and red wine.

Thank God for Sam's!!!!  :innocent:

Absolutely amazing how much food 20 some college boys can eat!!

I am now going to bed! :-)

I have the lime juice already (for something else, but it might come in handy for a good Cosmo  :uhsure: ).  I tend to stay in my apartment when I drink, just because I'd rather not leave my car somewhere and pay out the ass for a cab... I never realized how expensive cabs were until the Savannah St. Patty's Day CC meet-up happened... Chris knows what I'm talking about.   :rotf:

Did you take a cab home?  All I remember was snoring and trying to make it to the bathroom in the dark without falling over anything.

No, it was when you, Freeper and I were searching for a cab to take us to the Pirate's House.  :p

I drove my car back to my apartment about 2 am or so... couldn't sleep in the house and couldn't sleep in the car, so I went home.

The last community garage sell I went to was in the projects. I did find a nice pocket T shirt with only one cigarette burn hole in it. It cost me a nickel.

Billy Ray Cirus made Rachel Ray an Ovaltine cocktail a week or so ago on her show.

Chris, sorry I missed this thread last night.

Some weird shit happened in town. Some type of sattelite was down.

From 4 PM on last night....

Most ATMs down.

No pay at the pump.

Cart fulls of food being left at Wal Mart check out, they could not take debit/credit. Same thing at Smith's....Resturants had guests trying to pay with plastic AFTER the meal.... :rotf:  Casinos could not get online to cash checks..

Only 2 pharmacies were able to stay open. Yes, I was one of them.  :-)

People stopping in, buying a candy bar and getting $40 cash back, our store's stuff was working, lost land line for a while, but it quickly came back...could not bill some insurance companies...

Had to stop cash back, safe was getting too low.

No cell service until 9 PM...and it was still sketchy then.

I had no internet until today.

It was like the end of the world for some people...junkies were having panic attacks as they could not get any cash......

Ace Hardware had to close early.

I hope the girls at Sheri's Ranch are ok.
