WTF is going on in Detroit? Can anyone in Detroit confirm this?
This guy has posted these two videos of what he says is typical of what is going on in Detroit right now. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
If this is truly all over Detroit we may be in for a shit storm through out the rest of the country. What is that old saying? "As Detroit goes so does the rest of the country?"

1. what he showed is a pretty fair look at Detroit...1,500 sq homes are the norm
all brick and beautiful...only abandoned and let to rot..this would NEVER happen in Norfolk VA, from where I moved to be here in Detroit...it is sad indeed to see all these great homes just continue to crumble.
and Monica Conyers is the president of the City Council and she is a NUT BAG...why she continues to e voted for I have NO IDEA!
An Monica Conyers belongs to which party, and her husband is?

5. She's not the only nut bag on the council. They all need to go.
The government in the city is corrupt to the core. Apparently, the only business that will be left in Detroit will be tourist traffic geared toward the few brave souls who want a first hand look at America's first fallen city.
Corrupt government, I agree, which party, again?

14. Look at North Philly too.
Urban decay is everywhere in this country, but particularly bad in our former manufacturing cities.
Many former manufacturing cities have made the adjustment, just not many of those ran by democraps.

58. The "reasons" he proposed were the same bullshit reasons...
...everyone from the Detroit suburbs spouts off.
Welfare, city council, lazy blacks, blah blah blah.
Nothing about corporate greed, outsourcing, destruction of American manufacturing, the racist suburbs leaving Detroit to die, etc. (i.e. the REAL reasons).
He gave the real reasons, but they don't fit into your "real" vision of things.

16. Point well made.

Looks like Detroit could use some serious smart community organizing to get some worthwhile political results.
Yeah, about that community organizing bull :censored: , we have one of those and where is that getting the country? More and more like Detroit?
Oh yeah, "serious smart community organizing" Is pretty much a quadruple oxymoron.
There's more over there, but I can only rarely venture to Skin's Island and can't stay too long.

Worthwhile political results? Why?? They're already voting overwhelmingly Dem. This is your utopia; residents who don't ask questions about why things never get better and often get worse who still vote Dem. If only the rest of the country was like Detroit.

I left that shithole (lived in Hazel Park, worked in Ferndale) in 1997 after spending 2 years there.
Never again.

It's always about race isn't it?
Sorry but people escaping a sh*t hole while they have a chance isn't racist, it's just the smart thing to do.

It's a well established fact, that only whites leave the urban areas. Well to do blacks and other minorities always stay where their children's lives and futures are endangered by drugs and poor schools. :whatever:

I'm always waiting for one of them to have a lightbulb go off in their head since they believe it is all about race and wonder why people would be running away from the race they feel so sorry for. (Most)People don't uproot their whole lives just because of the color of skin that move in around them, but they do uproot if the QUALITY of people moving in as displayed in how they care for their homes, neighborhoods, themselves, and their general behavior is subpar with what one would expect of the greater civilized population. If a certain group of individuals seem to have a predisposition to turning their neighborhoods into shitholes, perhaps it is that group of people who create those shitholes who deserve the admonishment and not the individuals interested in living in a place where American dreams are made and lived and are willing to move to obtain that if their less then quality neighbors have no interest in the same dream.
-
That lightbulb will never go on because they are incapable of rational thought.
Racism is an easy answer to validate their political beliefs when those beliefs have failed miserably...then they no longer have to ponder the question and can happily settle back into their desired state of feeling oppressed and victimized.

What do you think happened to Vermont, once one of the most distinctive and charming states in the union?
All these primitives moving in?
I read somewhere that Vermont is the whitest state of the fifty states.
Sounds to me as if the primitives are pretty racist, doing that migrating.

Since liberalism brings people and places to the best they can be, can you imagine the absolute maggot-feasted putrid horrid wretched hell-from-hell Detroit would be without it? I shutter.

Hi,
I think what you are seeing is a result of a combination of things. One is the state of the auto industry which has many factors, not the least of which is the unions driving jobs out of the country.
The second is the great society by LBJ. In 1963 he incentivized out of wedlock birth by paying women to bear children. That single act did more to destroy the black family unit than anything else. Now the father had no responsibility, and the young mamas kept getting more money each time they had a child.
I read where the graduation rates in the inner cities are below 50%. Thanks so much to another failed liberal policy, not a surprise however.
When you have three and four generations of folks who have never worked, lived off the government all their life, what you end up with is what you saw after Katrina, people who take no personal responsibility. Why would they leave Detroit? Surely not to go somewhere else to look for a job. Heck they probably get more welfare dollars right where they are. Only problem is businesses and taxpayers are leaving MI in droves so there is no more money to continue to support them.
Of course the politicians jump on this to maintain their power, the whole problem is of course caused by the evil, rich, greedy white man.....who likely has supported their family for generations already.
The real issue to me is how do you stop the cycle?
regards,

What a bunch of complete and utter bullshit! The suburbs have offered to sink money into Detroit but want a say in how things are run down there! The City Council pretty much called us all racist for wanting to make sure our money was being used wisely! They bitch because all the whites left to go to Oakland county and then in the same breath tell them they aren't wanted there anyway...but their money is! :whatever: The only thing saving Detroit from sinking into complete collapse is us "racist" suburbians from Oakland county going to the casinos and the sporting events downtown! Without us Detroit would have died many years ago!

Can anyone tell one, just one (no matter how tiny) tangible, permanent change made to any city or community within a city that was a result of any community organizer? Has public housing been refurbished? Buildings painted because some community organizer inspired businesses to donate paint and convinced the residents they would have a sense of pride knowing they were working to better themselves? Set up a community garden with donated seeds, soil amendments, and tilling? Held job skills & GED workshops and then worked hand-in-hand with 2nd and 3rd generation welfare moms to help them get a job so they had a chance of living the middle class American dream instead of living without hope in a liberal inner city plantation? Set up a community daycare so those with jobs would have a safe place to leave their children, and those without to earn money working at the daycare. Surely there must even be government programs for all these kinds of things and one would assume a community organizer would be very savvy about available resources. Oh, wait, any of these things would give people living in inner cities a chance to be independent, maybe even move to a better location. That would mean less dependent voters for the master race...er I mean Democrat party...never mind.

All change brought about by community organizers involve taxpayers dollars being thrown in to temporarily fill potholes, which are redug by the very people they were meant to help.

About three years ago, Obama was stumping in Cicero, IL, when somebody handed him an envelope full of kickback money. He used the envelope to record that 3 shovels, 5 rakes, and a garbage can were donated to the Parks & Rec division.
j/k - but point is WELL TAKEN. h5.

IIRC, was it not Detroit's city council that told attendees at a meeting that whites were not wanted nor their opinions?
I am beginning to think that if we are constantly branded racists that it might be time to start living up to our reputation.
