Breaking: another 610,000 initial jobless claims. Over 6,000,000 continuing claims.
(RTTNews) - The U.S. Department of Labor revealed that initial jobless claims fell to 610,000 for the week ended April 11th, down 53,000 from the previous week's revised figure.
The 4-week moving average for initial claims, a statistic that flattens out week-to-week fluctuations in the data, dipped 8,500 to a level of 651,000.
The number of people receiving ongoing unemployment help, a statistic known as continuing claims, rose above 6 million for the first time since the data have been kept. Continuing claims for the week ended April 4, the latest week for which the government has data, climbed 172,000 to a level of 6.022 million.

1. The True Headline: "Jobless Claims Fall 53,000"
For the record.

5. Feed the republicans for 2010 then. No matter to what extent the economy recovers their campaigns will say it's not enough. We have to cause the people to understand that things are moving at a structured pace. If we are talking up the economy you will see countless town hall meetings with gop candidates having real "Mericans" talk about how all the fancy numbers out of Washington mean nothing to them because they don't have a job.
But if you want to both give them ammunition and cock their guns go ahead, you know "for the record."
Idiot. Your fellow primitive was trying to frame the news in a better (howbeit dishonest) light. For the record.

7. You are the one that brought up the subject...the truth
The truth is, that here where I live the jobs are still being lost at an alarming rate. More layoffs and cutbacks reported here in the real world, just today. We do need to deal with the truth.
We tried Karl Rove and the neocon's made up "reality" for 8 years and look where that got the economy and the country.
The Obama stimulus package needs to be put into place and into action and given a little time to work and jobs need to be created, to put our party on solid ground to be a contender in 2012.
More lies and bullshit won't save us. The neocon's greed based house of cards is STILL crashing as I type. We need to stick to the truth about how this country got to where it is today and how bad the situation really is. No more sugar coated bullshit!
EDIT...A half million more jobs lost is a hell of a lot more misery.
Your leaders don't want the public to start digging too deep into what caused it because it'll point the finger right back at them.

8. That's what I'm saying. We have to talk down the economy. Let people know that this is at least a 30 year recovery plan.
What is true doesn't matter. November of 2010 is what matters.
Talk down the economy. Truth doesn't matter, only having power.
Glad to see at least one of them admits to something of which they all believe.

Wow! How refreshingly honest! But, can you imagine running for office, getting behind that podium, and telling people who are either living paycheck-to-paycheck, or unemployed, to "just be patient. This is at least a 30-year recovery plan." Some of those people are 45-50 years old and will be dead and buried in 30 years time. As a politician, wouldn't you expect to have a bunch of shoes thrown at you? Or at least laughed off-stage? What is this ass hat thinking?

Yes, truth be damned as long as the entire administration is carrying a (D) behind its name.

I hear Chris Dodd isn't doing too well. He's raised less than half a million dollars for his re-election campaign, and the majority of that money came from outside CT.

I have absolutely no faith in people in those eastern states. Supposedly Murtha always has "problems" too, but in the end his people always elect him. Working class people, supposedly who don't give a rats ass about how he maligns their sons & daughters (one of the Marines he accused of killing in cold blood was in HIS district) just so long as they get their precious pork. These guys, every single one of them ALWAYS get reelected...unless they're republicans. For whatever reason having a D behind one's name guarantees you can keep your fat ass warming a senate seat until you decide to retire. Pork and handouts work. Give people a crutch and they'll find a way to sprain their ankle just so they can keep using it.

I hear ya. My congressional district went from the Republican, Jim Tedisco, up by 90 or so votes, to the Democrat, Scott Murphy, up by 230 votes or so, with the absentee votes. Thing is, come 2010, and the hyperinflation that will surely come (last month's CPI went up at an annulized rate of 15 percent), the Dems will be so unpopular that ACORN and vote fraud won't be able to save them.

Apparently doesn't realize that the only time that the party in control of the White House didn't lose seats in both the Senate and the House was 2002. Guess who was president then?
