Let's Have Our Own Tea Party!
Let's have our own tea party - an ongoing one. Every time you have to go through a toll booth on an expressway, throw in a tea bag (along with your proper change). This is to protest the fact that our government doesn't properly fund our roads, forcing them to turn highways over to private agencies. That my friends, is a de facto tax. You have to work longer to pay that tax unless you want to sit in traffic jams and at red lights wasting time and gas.
The President of the Orange County (FL) Expressway Authority makes a quarter million dollars a year - and they just doubled tolls at some booths.
And people are protesting that President Obama wants to build roads and bridges?
-
Translation: There is no place for lazy, tit sucking, shovel leaning, freeloading DUmmies on a privately owned highway crew.
-
How many more failed attempts at protests is it gonna take before the DUmp realizes they are NOT the majority in this country?
-
...and where are most of these toll roads located? Liberal states like Jersey and PA. Georgia has one (1), and that's GA 400 from the top of the perimeter to I-85.
-
OK, let's say they do that. The people who go and collect the toll money are going to find several teabags in there. What message will they take back?

Shh, don't tell the DUmmies that it would seem like an anti-tax protest. ooops :banghead:

On a side note, IMO the July 4th events don't need to be called "protests," they need to be refered to accurately, that being a celebration of the freedom and liberty our founding fathers desired for its citizens and the people's desire to return to those standards. That, in and of itself, is a rejection of liberalism.

WTF? :mental:

They'll never get it.
DUmmies, one more time. We are not protesting the building of roads and bridges. We are protesting the BORROWING of more money to pay off debt (In DUmmie speak; We are paying off our Visa Card with our Master Card) instead of cutting spending. 'O' (your main man) is not only NOT cutting spending he is INCREASING spending while borrowing more money. Got it?
Maybe better expressed this way;
You have $10 and you want to buy a $5 bag of weed and 2 bags of Cheetos. Problem is Cheetos (the kind you like) are $3 per bag. Now, do you go home and ask mom if she will loan you another $1 (on top of the $10 she gave you this morning) or do you just buy 1 bag of Cheetos and be happy with it? Those of us who are Conservative think you should be happy with 1 bag of weed and 1 bag of Cheetos. YOU on the other hand think mom should up you another $1 even though she will have to borrow it from the neighbor. Does that help?

I think it's against the law to put anything but legal tender in the toll basket.
But don't tell them, I want to see a couple of them get arrested.
-
You're probably right, Rob. Hey, Wineslob, I never noticed your avatar before. That's hilarious!
-
I never paid attention to those coin-collectors on toll roads (where one flings in the money as one drives by), especially since toll roads seem to exist mostly in corrupt one-party machine-controlled blue states (although I imagine maybe Texas might have a few).
Anyway, wouldn't tossing tea bags into those things gum up the machines?
And wouldn't this be wilful destruction of--gasp!--government property?
-
Living as a deep undercover mole in perhaps the bluest of the blue states, I can say that nearly all toll road issues are in Democrat-based states.
There is actually a massive toll vs gasoline tax increase debate going on here in Massachusetts right now, to determine what way to go to generate revenue - either adopt the highest gas tax in the nation, or to increase tolls in some places to seven dollars.
Living in Massachusetts, I *know* exactly how its going to turn out. The Commonwealth will raise both. --Maybe not right away, and maybe not all at once, but both will go up. But this is another story for another thread.

Yes, please do that. I would thoroughly enjoy watching the cops haul your sorry ass to jail for it and I would laugh my ass off as you are ultimately fined tens of thousands of dollars.
