"The ‘tea parties’ being held today by groups of right-wing activists, and fueled by FOX News Channel, are an effort to mislead the public about the Obama economic plan that cuts taxes for 95 percent of Americans and creates 3.5 million jobs," Schakowsky said in a statement.
"It’s despicable that right-wing Republicans would attempt to cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with a shameful political stunt," she added. "Not a single American household or business will be taxed at a higher rate this year. Made to look like a grassroots uprising, this is an Obama bashing party promoted by corporate interests, as well as Republican lobbyists and politicians.”

But... but...
CHICAGO (AP) — The husband of an Illinois congresswoman pleaded guilty Wednesday to tax violations and bank fraud for writing rubber checks and failing to collect withholding tax from an employee.
Robert Creamer, a political consultant married to four-term U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, could face four years in prison on the two felony counts when he is sentenced Dec. 21.
"In my heart, I know that these mistakes do not define or diminish this good man, or the good work that he has done over the last 40 years or that he will do in the future," Schakowsky, D-Ill., said after her husband's court hearing.

Schakowsky: Tea parties 'despicable'

Congresswoman's husband pleads guilty to two felonies
CHICAGO (AP) — The husband of an Illinois congresswoman pleaded guilty Wednesday to tax violations and bank fraud for writing rubber checks and failing to collect withholding tax from an employee.
Robert Creamer, a political consultant married to four-term U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, could face four years in prison on the two felony counts when he is sentenced Dec. 21.

Schakowsky has not been accused of any wrongdoing
Creamer, 58, a prominent Chicago political consultant, was accused of swindling nine financial institutions of at least $2.3 million while he ran a public interest group in the 1990s.
Creamer told reporters Wednesday there was "no doubt that my actions a decade ago were very foolish and placed myself, my family, the organization and many of those who worked with me at considerable risk."

Her lips are so firmly planted on Obama's ass, someone should offer her some chapstick.
-
I wanted to write her a blistering email, telling her that her comments were "despicable", but her Rep web site accepts only addresses from within her district. Anybody live in the 9th district in Illinois? Can I borrow an address?
j/k
Snail mail to be prepared a bit later on. This bitch WILL NOT get away with that.

So she hates the First Amendment. The Tea Party is the exercise of the First Amendment and is grassroots.

From The Hill (http://briefingroom.thehill.com/2009/04/16/schakowsky-tea-parties-despicable/):

I'll tell you what's despicable and shameful. Right Here (http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-08-31-congresswoman-husband_x.htm):

This is how Washington DC defines "despicable":
Exercising one's First Amendment Rights.
This is how Washington DC defines "acceptable":
Committing a FELONY (to which one pleads guilty rather than face what must have been overwhelming evidence in open court) by swindling people out of $2.3 million dollars as the spouse of a United States Representative.
I'm sure Jan knew nothing about it, just like I'm sure Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Ben Bernanke, Hank Paulson, Barack Obama, President Bush and over 530 others in Washington DC knew nothing about the multi-trillion dollar swindle committed against The American People over the preceding 10 years.
I'm also sure the dishonorable Jan Schakowsky would prefer that people forget about that little 2005 "incident." After all, four years is a long time, right? We can "forgive and forget" $2.3 million bucks being ripped off after a couple of years, no?
Wake the hell up Washington - we the people are tired of this crap and the Tea Parties of April 15th are our lawful exercise of The First Amendment, unlike the felonious conduct that some of you and your families engage in to get what you want.
We need more - and bigger - Tea Parties.
I suggest we do them July 4th. I will make myself available to speak at any of these gatherings; contact me if you're organizing one.

I faxed this letter off to Schakowsky's three offices:
Rep. Jan Schakowsky
2367 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515
Dear Rep. Schakowsky:
I must take exception to your recent assertion that the “tea parties†held on 4/15/09 are “held by right-wing activists and are an effort to mislead the public about the Obama economic planâ€. I believe this type of commentary is preposterous and an outrage for normal thinking Americans.
I am not one of your constituents, so perhaps in that light your staff won’t even read the rest of this letter. But I will take advantage of my own First Amendment rights to express my views on your own “despicable†statements.
By my own estimation, the Americans who attended the “tea parties†did little more than express their own First Amendment rights to peaceably assemble and petition the government – of which you are a part – for a redress in grievances. Photographs and personal observations all showed me that those attending were peaceable, conscientious Americans devoid of anything but a desire to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with Obama’s socialist policies.
You see, those people – like me – consider the entire Obama agenda to be grievous in all its forms. Clearly, you are in his camp and support his agenda fully. By extension then, your own policies and political leanings are decidedly socialist.
Socialism is not a hallmark of this Nation, and I pray God it never will be.
Since your comments are outrageous and an affront to common, decent law-abiding Americans, I sincerely hope you can find it within yourself to release an apology to the Americans who insisted on exercising their First Amendment rights – the very rights that our Constitution guarantees. If our activities, as guaranteed by the Constitution are “despicableâ€, then what does that make the Constitution in your view? Is our Constitution equally despicable?
I find the recent legal problems experienced by your husband to be suspicious as well. It seems that very, very few Obama disciples – of which you are clearly one – are devoid of scandal, dishonesty, and selfishness. All honest Americans can do is simply shake their head and tick off yet another example of chicanery and ridiculousness as exhibited by our “elected officials†or those very close to them.
The last Congressional approval rating is at a dismal -28 (35% approve, 63% disapprove, with 2% unsure). These data are underwritten by the left-wing CNN organization.
With such a failure rating, how can Congress continue to afford to make ridiculous statements such as you made? Your comments are an affront and a slap in the face to those quarter million Americans who attended the recent tea parties.
Two hundred and fifty thousand people can’t be wrong, Congresswoman.
Sincerely,
My name

How come she doesn't say the reason they won't be paying more in taxes this year is because they are still under Bush's tax code. Next year will be a whole other ball game!

Now you've done it. You gave away Obama's entire game plan.

Hi,
Great letter, I applaud your effort.

Great letter, Euph, but the part I singled out is easily refutable by those fruitbats. 250K CAN be wrong. Hell, over 60 million were wrong in this country on the first Tuesday of November.

Voting is one thing. Taking a day off work to express yourself on a grass roots issue is quite another.
Let me put it this way -- I fervently believe that the 250K people who took the time out of their schedule to make a statement to the wingnut in the WH aren't wrong. They believe they aren't wrong, as well.
And Schakowsky might want to think about that kind of resolve.
Only a wackjob like this moonbat would make public statements the way she did, and then to have the nerve to publish them on her web site. :loser:

Well, someone made a point on another board I Admin about it only being between 250-500K protesting. I told him that for every one person protesting, 499 were home cleaning their firearms or reloading spent casings.

It was a generalization and like the loony lib he is, he tried to over-analyze what I said. BTW, I thought we had more people? Didn't Pelosi say in January we were losing 500 million jobs a month? :evillaugh:

The conservatives can't count on college students and their teachers...who love to cancel class and give points for lefty protests. They also can't count on day-time attendence because nearly 100% of conservatives HAVE JOBS...unlike the high percentage of leftists protestors. For every person protesting, there were hundreds who couldn't take the time from work to travel to a protest.

Actually, according to a post I read somewhere here, the estimates are up over 600 million. Can't remember where I got the figure 250K, but I suppose it was early on.
It's just numbers and it pales in comparison to the numbers of fruitcakes who continue to worship the ground Uncle Zip walks on, but anyway....
