Obama to Appoint 'Border Czar'
President Obama is creating a new border czar position and has chosen a former Justice Department official to fill the post, an administration official told FOX News.
The new Homeland Security post will be responsible for issues related to drug-cartel violence along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The administration official said Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is expected to name Alan Bersin to the position on Wednesday during a visit to the Southwest border. The official would speak only on condition of anonymity ahead of the announcement.
Ain't WH security great?
Expect the "bait & switch" to come from this.

I would like to see the Constitutional or legal authority for all these "czars". These people have power over the people, are not elected by the people, and are not confirmed by the Senate (like that's more than a rubber stamp these days, but still). How much longer before we have a Mouch issuing "directives"?

From 1993 to 1998, Bersin was the federal prosecutor who led the government's crackdown on illegal immigrants at the California-Mexico border. Bersin and Napolitano were both U.S. attorneys during the Clinton administration.
During his final three years, Bersin doubled as the U.S. attorney general's Southwest border representative, or "border czar."
Another Clinton retread, performing the same job that he did under Clinton.

What is up with all these Czars? How on earth did Obama start creating this position without somebody in congress objecting loudly enough to cause a ruckus :thatsright:
Does he even realize how bad it sounds. A Czar was a absolute monarch. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, the work Czar itself is a corruption of Caesar, as in an emperor. I'm pretty sure that we are still a Democracy, and therefore unelected leaders are absolutely unacceptable.

H5 for saying what I did, only better...

Why go through all those "time consuming" and "agenda disrupting" checks and balances of a legislative and judicial branch when you can just circumvent them with newly ordained positions of governmental authority.
-
He is even using Communist code names now...CZAR???...we're becoming the USSR under his RULE

The geezer himself, Senator Robert Byrd, (D-WV) complained about this.
Depends and Geritol (http://www.nytimes.com/gwire/2009/02/25/25greenwire-byrd-questions-obamas-use-of-policy-czars-9865.html)
Umm, not to put too fine a point on it, but I believe we're a Republic, not a Democracy.

Democratic Republic if we really want to get into specifics. I think that whatever we call it, we can all agree that we are not meant to be a Monarchy :p
