Anyone have experience with this security software? I downloaded it through my internet provider's site (Cox).
My computer is so slow now and I assume it has to do with settings in the software. I've putzed around and tried to change a couple of settings but everything is still loading much slower than before I had the software. It's annoying.
Any suggestions? I'm really stupid when it comes to this computer stuff so if you talk to me in geek speak, I probably will give you a blank stare. LOL.

I have used both McAfee and Norton security products. They do slow a PC down a lot.
I now use the free version of AVG.

I'm comforted to read that someone else has experienced this same issue.
I was concerned that my computer was hosed up with a virus which is why I downloaded the software to begin with.

McAfee cordially sucks.
I have been using Trend Micro Internet Security on all my machines for two years now.
great program and not a memory hog.

As does Nortons. They both put all kind of hooks into the windows registry. Nortons in particular was slowing my machine to a crawl.
Free AVG may not be the best program out there, but it suites my needs.

I guess I'll have to look around for a new security program then. My computer speed is pathetic now. :thatsright:

Like I said... I now use free AVG. It's working for me fine so far.

For free, AVG works quite well. The pay version has more functions and a little better security. Trend Micro is another winner, IMO. Neither one adversely affects computer speed and isn't considered "bloatware".

I usually recommend either Avast (http://www.avast.com) or AVG.
