3. Yeah . . .if Texas wants to declare its sovereignty it should be on its own. . .
. . .when it comes to services that the federal government provides.

4. If TX seceded and became an independent country, how long would
it be before the US started throwing its weight around and bullying the poor place for its oil and other resources, lol??? They'd find themselves WISHING they were still part of the US if they pissed us off and we did something like, say declare them a rogue state, or declared war against them.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Rick, you dumbass.

15. Yeah, we could invade and take the land back, and throw all the
recalcitrants in Gitmo. And make it into a couple of new states, and retire the name "Texas" to the dustbin of history.

Sadly for us Texans, IIRC the secession clause was removed from our Constitution in 1954.  We were allowed to keep it when we became part of the U.S. because we had been our own sovergn nation at one point.

That being said...were we to break away again...

Texas would be one of the top 10 oil & gas producing countries in the WORLD.

Texas has enough agricultural, industrial and technical business that the other 49 states would be importing things FROM us.

(Note to DUmmies: where do you think Dell Computers and Texas Instruments are located at?)

We have three or four of the most modern shipping terminals in the WORLD.

And as for your quip about the military...well DUmmies you go right aheada and pull YOUR bases...if it wsan't for Texans enlisting the Army wouldn't have half of the soldiers it does.

So we'll be just dandy when it comes to protecting OUR borders.

I don't think you're dumb moonbat ass understands, all those wars waged and battles won? Were done mainly by people who believe the same way Perry believes. Don't for a second think you and a bunch of dumbass leftists can't take on the conservative side of the nation.

Another thing, for all you DU idiots that think Texas can say goodbye to roads, ag funds, etc., do you idiots realize how much Texas pays INTO the Fed? You idiots DO know that the federal government doesn't actually make money, don't you? So guess what, say goodbye to any monies that come from the citizenry of Texas.

Hey, I'm all for secession. Better yet, we keep the United States and boot your communist, Jefferson-hating ****ing asses to Canada, Russia, Venezuela, or Cuba where you f'n belong.

It would seem that the DUmmies have forgotten what 132 men inside a Spanish Mission did to 1,600 regulars of the Mexican Army.

Granted we were overrun in the end.  But the loss ratio was far higher than what Santa Ana EVER imagined it would be.

Don't mess with Texas DUmmies.

Now I hear that down in East Texas they are trying to rewrite the Texas History books to make Santa Ana look more sympathetic.  :bird:

Just for you lurking DUmmies:

When you're from Texas, people who you meet ask you questions like, "Do you have any cows?"
It's nice to be able to say yes.
They ask you, "Do you have horses?"
Yup.
Bet you got a bunch of guns, eh?
Of course.
They all want to know if you've been to Southfork. They watched Dallas. Have you ever looked at a map of the world? Why sure you have. Look at Texas for me just for a second. That picture, with the Panhandle and the Gulf Coast, and the Red River and the Rio Grande is as much a part of you as anything ever will be.  As soon as anyone anywhere in the world looks at it, they know what it is. It's Texas.  Pick any kid off the street in Japan and draw him a picture of Texas in the dirt, and he'll know what it is.  What happens if I show you a picture of any other state?  You'll get it maybe after a second, but who else would?  Even if you do, does it ever stir any feelings in you?

In every man, woman and child on this little rock the Good Lord put us on, there is somewhere in them a person who wishes just once he could be a real live Texan and get up on a horse or ride in a pickup. Did you ever hear anyone in a restaurant go, "Wow... so you're from Ok-la-homa.  Cool. Tell me about it"?
There is some bit of Texas in everyone.  Do you know why? Because Texas is Texas.

Texas is the Alamo.  Texas is 183 men standing in a church, facing thousands of Mexican soldiers, fighting for freedom, who had the chance to walk out and save themselves but stayed.  We send our kids to schools named William B. Travis and Bowie, and do you know why?  Because those men saw a line in the sand, and they decided to be heroes. John Wayne paid to do the movie himself.

That is Texas.

Texas is Sam Houston capturing Santa Ana at San Jacinto.
Texas is Texas Independence Day and Juneteenth.
Texas is huge forests of piney woods like the Davy Crockett National Forest.
Texas is breathtaking mountains in Big Bend.
Texas is shiny skyscrapers in Houston and Dallas.
Texas is oak and cedar trees, cactus, Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.
Texas is world record bass from places like Lake Fork.
Texas is Mexican food like nowhere in the world, even Mexico.
Texas is larger-than-life legends like Earl Campbell and Nolan Ryan, Denton Cooley and Michael DeBakey, Lyndon Johnson, George Bush, and George W. Bush, Willie Nelson and Buddy Holly.
Texas is great companies like Dell Computer and Compaq.
Texas is huge herds of cattle and miles of crops.
Texas is skies blackened with doves and leases full of deer.
Texas is the best Bar-b-que anywhere.
Texas is a place where cities shut down for the Cowboys on Monday Night Football and the streets are deserted during church.
Texas is beaches, deserts, lakes and rivers, mountains and prairies.

By federal law, Texas is the only state in the U.S. that can fly its flag at the same height as the U.S. flag. Think about that for a second. You fly the Stars and Stripes at 20 feet in Maryland, or California, or Maine, and your state flag goes at 17.  You fly the
Stars and Stripes in front of Pine Tree High in Longview, Texas, at 20 feet, and the Lone Star flies at 20 feet. Our capitol is the only one in the country that is taller than the capitol building in D.C. We signed those in as part of the deal when we came on.
Texas was its own country. The Republic of Texas.
Every time I think of all these things I tear up.
All of them make you proud to be a Texan.

Hi,

What folks are missing is that some 25 states have reaffirmed their soverignty since the inaguaration.  I posted a thread about a month ago on the subject.  They are merely resolutions but BO is not getting the message.

I heard an interview with Ted Nugent today and it was great, he is going to be at the Alamo tomorrow.  He said the governor of Texas was the only one to have the balls to say, "I believe a concealed weapons permit is just that, it is permission to carry a weapon on your person."  The implication was if you were qualified and were issued one there should be no restrictions, you have a right to defend yourself if necessary.

When I heard the interview with the state senator in New Hampshire who pushed for the resolution there he was asked for examples of where the federal government was tromping on state soverignty.  His first response was the federal government has no right to take away our citizens rights to defend themselves.

Secession, not just yet.  Does not mean it won't come to that, and when it does it will be several states in a block right along with TX.

Hi,

Now that was funny but you may be right.  If BO thinks Lincoln had a hard time selling the north in 1860, the blue wimpies want to apologize to everyone for everything and avoid any conflict.  Maybe he can re-institute the draft so it becomes Canada's problem.

For what it is worth, the blacks are discouraging their young men from joining the military these days also.  If the call went out for all ACORN soldiers to show up armed and ready to fight, might nobody show up there either.  Then again BO could tell them that they won't get any more free government money if they don't fight and they would be in a heck of a fix.

We had Texas flags before we left Hood. Wore them all the time. There is a company that makes them, do a google for Texas ACU patches and you should find them.

When you are in country you can get away with alot of shit that normally would have the CSM stroke'n out. Of course, once back on a FOB, the FOBbets get to telling you what to wear...

We had Texas flags before we left Hood. Wore them all the time. There is a company that makes them, do a google for Texas ACU patches and you should find them.

Roger...I'm on it.

When you are in country you can get away with alot of shit that normally would have the CSM stroke'n out. Of course, once back on a FOB, the FOBbets get to telling you what to wear...

Yeah we'll see how far that goes.

Texas is a net creditor to the US government. Texas has a  surplus in it's budget, but more importantly, municipal bond holders can say buh-bye to Texas muni bonds because Texas Munis are very attractive to those people in the Northeast for tax purposes.

Personally, IF Texas left the Union, I could easily see the following states following

Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina,Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Alaska, Missouri, Arkansas, Ohio, and Arizona............half the Union :fuelfire:

Yeah we'll see how far that goes.

War story;

A bit of background so you understand the context: last time over I was a Advisor to the Iraqi Army. This was before the MiTT shit got started, we were the first Advisor team to deploy to Iraq. We lived on an Iraqi Military base, beside the US base at Taji. We did not have a mess hall, or showers, or a roof over our heads until we built them. BUT- that, as they say, is another story.

There we were...( no shit)... just coming off a three day patrol north of Taji and along Route Tampa- no hot food, no showers, no Star Trek movies, nuthin but hand grenade pins, and spend brass...We pull into Taji and roll up the the south mess hall. Leaving a guard on the vehicles and crew serves we head into get a bit to eat. (we always tried to end a mission on or about chow time...hey- an Army travels on it's tummy tumm-tumm, dammit!)

Needless to say we are a tad dusty. Walking in we wash out hands, and faces, and heads, in the sinks and prepare to walk in. All of a sudden, this Sergeant Major steps up and tells me I can not enter the mess hall in dirty uniforms.

Being the polite and political correct officer that I am, I answer, "You know what, Sarn't?, My guys just came in after three days getting shot at and blow'ed up, and we are gonna get a hot meal- the first American food we've had in a week. You can get out of the way or I am going to have SSG All*** (name removed in case this ever gets to trail) shoot. you."

Now, as fat Sergeant Majors sometimes get, he raised up all mightily on me. "Sir," he said, "You can not talk to me in that way."

I turned to SSG All*** and said, "Shoot him."

All***'s M9 started to clear the holster as the fat FOBbett took off. We went in and partook to snarfing down cheeseburgers. A few minutes later, the DEFAC manager (a civilian dude who've we come to know over the last ten months) came over. "Are we in serious trouble?" says I. "I'm sorry," says he, "SGM ********* is new in country and doesn't know you guys."

I heard later the SGM complained to Base command to the G3 told him he was lucky we didn't shoot him.

FOBbets. Never forget that there are those people in the military who's entire career consists of sitting around telling other people how they should fight- but never really fight themselves.

I'm not sure which one is the South Chow Hall on Taji, but I've been to all three.  The one closer to Castle Gate had good burgers one night a week.

I got a request to do some training for a unit at FOB Sadr City while I was there, relieving another guy who went on leave.  I volunteered to ride a convoy down, but base command shot that idea down.  The unit had to send people to me for training.

I absolutely DETEST (I'm being polite) FOBets.

I spent a lot of time at Taji...BEFORE it became all nice.  I've been over to the adjacent IA base when we were training them.

We held the place after 4th ID DIVARTY left and before 39th Inf. Bde. could find their way there from Arkansas.

Found a minefield at the IIRC north end of the airfield that no one in 4th ID had managed to find in the 8 months they were there.

I miss being dusty and dirty and being smelling like three days of patrol.  And remembering places like Taji when you tell your stories only makes me want to get back out to the field that much more.
