She's America's top "model."
Michelle Obama is the nation's first first lady to add a full-time makeup artist to her traveling entourage, according to stylists who have worked with presidential wives over the past 16 years.
Makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, helped create Obama's signature look on her inaugural trip to Europe last week.
Grimes-Miles, who has been working with the first lady for six years, now splits her time between DC and Chicago, where she dolls up morning-news anchors for WGN TV.
"No other first ladies have consistently traveled with a makeup artist," said hairdresser Bernard Portelli, who styled Hillary Rodham Clinton's blond mane in 1993 and tracks trends in first-lady style.

Talk about lipstick on a pig. :evillaugh: I just do not think she is a good looking woman.

All image...no substance. The perfect Democrat.
-
I was reading some UK paper, and they were tearing her apart. Trashy diva-wanabe fake eyelashes. It was ruthless.

"It took Laura Bush four years to finally look good. It's taken Michelle Obama two months. She wears fake eyelashes that are beautiful. She can't do those herself."
Style watchers suspect that Grimes-Miles is behind Obama's most prominent beauty reinvention: Her eyebrows.

You have to love the British tabloids sometimes :lmao:

They don't even care anymore about how elitist they appear.
Flying in a pizza chef even though they have a full kitchen staff and now a full time make up artist.
Your tax dollars at work. :thatsright:

Not to be 'da debils' advocate, but hasn't the White House just about always had stylists on hand?

Nope. Which is why this is news.
-
The obviously fake eyelashes are a bit much for everyday, the brows are a touch too dramatic, but she sure could use a darker color on the lips with less obvious lip liner, but I don't know - is that her "signature look"??? Hope not.
This isn't just a White House barber, this is a matter of the First Lady having an on-call makeup artist. During a recession, it looks indulgent.

What about John Edwards? Oh, wait...
-
Michelle Obama?

lipstick
pig
you know the rest

I think there is a difference between having a particular hair-stylist who comes when a hair-cut is needed, or fashion advisers who guide them towards outfits, and having a personal make-up artist on call. Even Hillary Clinton's hair-stylist says that Michelle Obama is first first lady to have a make-up artist travel with her.
-
Give her a break. Even Lassie traveled with a groomer.
-
I'm not surprised....however; the last thing we should do is be complacent...this should be news, this should be discussed...but not to be petty....but to bring attention to the excess when the rest of the country is suffering through a recession and huge job losses. They want to raise our taxes while they live extravagently..They personify hypocracy.

Well, it's Breaking News to me ;)

I moved it after TRG posted the same thread in Breaking News. :p

This calls for a photoshop of Zira with make-up.
Sorry, but the media is pushing way to hard the Jackie O worship, I'm just sick of it. The woman has no manners, dresses like jackie would have if she shopped at walmart, and now a full time make-up artist? I done playing nice.
-
In my opinion, being president does not give you the right to use the public coffers for you personal indulgence's......He was elected president NOT king.
All this waste by Obowma just makes me hate him and the nontax paying democrats that much more.

OK, thanks.

Next we'll be hearing about a professional groomer/trainer for the "First Dog BO". They could save money by having that groomer do 'Chelles hair. :uhsure:

Hi,
In Chicago there is a pizza chain called Lou Malnoti's that BO frequented regularly. When they found out what happened they went nuts and really leveled some criticism.
As far as her makeup goes, all she needs is a pole and a piano player and a garter belt for dollar bills.....

um...after 6 years of watching someone apply make-up to her face...shouldn't Michelle have figured out how to do it herself by now? :mental:
I know several women that wear false eyelashes....some apply them daily, others have them applied and they last for 3-6 weeks between applications. It isn't rocket science...... :fuelfire:
-
Well, I'm hoping TMZ catches Shelly with no make-up like they do with most celebutards and it makes the front page of some trashrag... :evillaugh:

People! People! This is a good thing! After the stimulus package passed, finally a job was created! :-)
-
The woman already had a job. Instead we have more energy being wasted to fly her back and forth between Chicago and DC.

Well sure she did. But I wouldn't be surprised if Zero counted it as a job created.

I love it! Who are you?

I object to this:
It took Laura Bush four years to finally look good.
This from a guy who worked on Hillary in 1993....wasn't she in the headband phase then? She looked like a moonbat organic gardner. I've always thought that Laura was naturally beautiful and gracious.

:banghead:
As a decade for fashion and style, the Seventies should have been stricken from the record. Hillary, too, now that I think about it.
-
I'm more bothered by the deification of the Obowma's than I am over her having a makeup artist. The Cult of Oprah lives.... :thatsright:

Yup. I utterly fail to understand how so many otherwise intelligent men and women can find Oprah so fascinating. She's a smart businesswoman, no doubt, but where the hell is the appeal?
Or maybe it's all those freebies she gives out. I dunno. I just ain't seein' it.
Meanwhile, Michelle Obama is the most transparent of opportunists - no class, no grace, no presence.
Her prancing in and out of the Oval Orifice reminds me of Hillary a few years ago.

Euphless, I KNOW that you wore platform shoes in the 70s....... :stirpot:

No platform shoes, but I did wear white pants, a white belt, white shoes, and shirts with big-assed collars on 'em.

I had a pair. They weren't Superfly tall, but they had a rise. I liked wearing them. I was 6' in 'em.

Back to Michelle. I think she's the first president's wife to have a full time makeup artist because she needs it the most.
But what gets me more upset is listening to her hubby's, the annointed one's, constant lectures. I feel like he's about to get on his pedestal to give us the benefit of his all-knowing pearls of wisdom. Blech. :whatever:

Blasphemer !!! How dare you say that about the Anointed One when and if on those rare occasions he deigns to speak to mere mortals.
