When you're the president of the United States, only the best pizza will do - even if that means flying a chef 860 miles.
Chris Sommers, 33, jetted into Washington from St Louis, Missouri, on Thursday with a suitcase of dough, cheese and pans to to prepare food for the Obamas and their staff.
He had apparently been handpicked after the President had tasted his pizzas on the campaign trail last autumn.
"It's surreal, it's a huge honour,' said Mr Sommers, who owns Pi restaurant in St Louis.
'It will be a casual lunch and hopefully we'll have a chance to say hello to the president.'
Mr Somers was accompanied by this business parnter Ryan Mangilardo who will help prepare the dinner for 140 this evening.
It will feature his signature dishes - ten deep dish and ten thin crust creations.
He is also planning a pizza especially for the president - the Hyde Park topped with chicken and hot sauce.

Nothing like pushing "the economy" and "green energy"...unless you're hungry and need a chef from 1/2 way across the country. ::) ::) :thatsright:

A 737 burns 800 gallons of fuel during an hour of flight. St. Louis to DC is approximately four hours of flight time, which is around 3200 gallons of aviation fuel. If the average driver bought 50 gallons of gas every week for a year, they would still be 600 gallons shy of that number.
Unbelievable.

What is really unbelievable is that 0Bama snubbed his Chicago homies and world famous Chicago Style Pizza.

Liberal Elitism 101. While the country's economy burns and people's lives go down the drain, Obama wines, dines and parties on our buck.

And hey, no surprise here:

Your search - "Chris Sommers" site:democraticunderground.com - did not match any documents.
If President Bush had done something like this, the DUmp monkeys would've caterwauled about it for days.
I dare someone to mole it up and post this story on the DUmp praising Obama for this.

AdBot is the greatest comedian DU has ever had. The punchlines are absolutely brilliant.

They scrubbed the story.

You say that as if that's unusual.

This excess is going to further damage him. His ego doesn't get that ....yet.

No it won't. All the blacks and all the DUmmies aspire to have the best of everything while someone else foots the bill. Just doing what comes naturally.

He's only making 20 pizzas for 140 people????? 7 people have to share one pizza? Lame. Especially if they are the schleps stuck with the thin crust. Best they hit a Mickey D's on the way home to fill up!

Thats my thought on it - If he going to go through all of this waste and expense, he may has well had the pizza chef bring enough to make 40 pizzas - its not like it would have cost that much more..
-
The WH chef must've felt great about this.

WTF, Zero--frozen California Pizza Kitchen pizzas not good enough for ya? There must be 100 places in DC that serve pizza as good. Hell, I still remember fondly a little place in Hermosa Beach, CA called Paisanos, but you don't see me jumping my ass on a plane and getting some of that.
This is as bad as Clinton holding up air traffic (and road traffic) at LAX so he could get a haircut from some hairdresser back in LA before he left.
Newsflash, Barack--that pizza will still become a turd eventually, just like everything else ya touch.

But it will smell like roses. [/dumode]

Well, if Obama makes decisions on which pizza ingredients to use the same way he makes decisions on hostage situations, they may all die of starvation first.
-
Just imagine how many low income people or homeless people they could have feed with what it cost to do all of this!
And he had the ""balls"" to accuse the U.S. under G.W. to be arrogant!
-
Somebody oughta ask Zero how many of those veggies he's growing went into those pizzas.
For the record, the basil I planted is coming along nicely along with the rest of the herbs. Tomatoes have a way to go yet, of course, but they're roma--perfect for pizza sauce.

There is also DiGorno's frozen pizza. It looks small, but it is very heavy because of the thick crust.

Indeed! I think that's the real shocker. While all of us will certainly be appalled at the thought of flying a cook half way across the country, for one meal. I'm fairly certain that having a White House Banquet for 140 supposedly distinguished guests, is never a cheap affair.

Amazing....absolutely f'n amazing.
The country's going broke, people are losing their jobs, their homes....more and more people are filing bankruptcy than ever before.....but the President flies in a pizza maker from St Louis to make pizza for 140 people. :censored:
On top of the ridiculousness of that....he betrays his own Chicago pizza makers by asking someone from St Louis (Hah!) to make deep dish pizza (originally made in Chicago) and....and...he's only going to have the guy make 160 slices for 120 people? I'd be ticked if I was one of the ones who only got one slice. :bird:
Seems to me ....that the "perks" that go along with being Prez of the United States is going to his head.... :moron:

You mean the roman columns at the greek theatre staged at the Dummie acceptance speech didn't give it away?

Notice he couldn't get decent ingredients locally...had to import them from St. Louis.

Obama Orders Pizza From St. Louis, Chicago Miffed
(AP) The news is hitting Chicago deep dish pizza makers' eye like a big pizza pie.
President Barack Obama is having 140 people over to the White House Friday night for a some deep-dish pizza _ St. Louis deep dish pizza.
It seems during his campaign he had pizza from a restaurant called Pi in St. Louis. That's the story Pi assistant manager Lindsey Tornetto tells.
Whatever happened, the restaurant says the owner and his partner packed dough, cheese and pizza pans in their suitcases and flew to Washington.
It all has Marc Malnati _ owner of 30 Lou Malnati's Pizzarias in the Chicago area _ shaking his head. He says he likes Obama's economic policy, but thinks the president's pizza policy should change.

That's why he's getting it from St Louis!!!
A good Chicago deep dish is going to have Italian sausage and pepperoni on it... :-)

I always knew that there was something wrong with the people in St. Louis. :lmao:

Unbelievable.
This is true however, the real question remains: If a train left Los Angles two hours later than the guy in the car, and the train was traveling 90 MPH, which cheese would be better on the main deep dish pizza?
Mozza or Romano? :-)

aren't those toppings made of pork? aren't pigs considered to be unclean?

The train would break down before the pizza was done cooking, because Joe Biden's dumb ass takes Amtrak.

That depends on whether the train is burning "clean" coal, spottel owls, or diesel. :fuelfire:
