Title: Kauai residents don't wait for state to repair road

Kauai residents don't wait for state to repair road (http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/04/09/hawaii.volunteers.repair/index.html)
Quote
(CNN) -- Their livelihood was being threatened, and they were tired of waiting for government help, so business owners and residents on Hawaii's Kauai island pulled together and completed a $4 million repair job to a state park -- for free.

Polihale State Park has been closed since severe flooding destroyed an access road to the park and damaged facilities in December.

"It would not have been open this summer, and it probably wouldn't be open next summer," said Bruce Pleas, a local surfer who helped organize the volunteers. "They said it would probably take two years. And with the way they are cutting funds, we felt like they'd never get the money to fix it."

And after only eight days, all of the repairs were done, Pleas said. It was a shockingly quick fix to a problem that may have taken much longer if they waited for state money to funnel in.

Two years to do eight days of work.  But government is the answer to everything. </DU>

Fear not, the state will close the road and spend 3x the time and money to make sure the work was done right.

Strangely enough, this from a state that wouldn't elect a Republican to the House or Senate over a dead person (Patsy Mink).

Yeah, well, we'll see what happens when the government gets around to paying attention...they probably forgot some EPA study or missed crossing some other "t"...and the government will come in and tear out the road to "fix" the error.   ::)

Those volunteers and business owners can now expect to be audited, inspected, fined, re-inspected, and fined again if Joe Biden's dog breeder (http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Bidens-Puppy-Breeder-Never-never-never-again.html?yhp=1) is anything to go by.

That's what I'm thinking, too.  Can't let people do anything for themselves...the gov't might find itself obsolete!

I agree with all the sentiments....Gov't is the oppressor in this day and age.  While I don't believe the Tea Parties will change THIS gov't....I think it will rally voters to get out and choose a better candidate.

Term limits...kick all the bums out. Next election cycle people need to vote for new blood and not the same ol BS. Anyone with over two terms needs to go.
