This isn't an indictment of a failed health care program this time, just a sad story of two infants clinging to life.
TORONTO (AP) — The parents of a terminally ill 2-month-old baby torn about wanting to help another child live were crushed Tuesday night when transplant surgery failed to go ahead because the baby stayed awake when taken off life support.
Dctors said there's still a chance their daughter's heart could be donated to a child in need before she dies.
Kaylee Wallace was born with Joubert syndrome, a rare malformation of the brain and brain stem that prevents her from breathing without a respirator when she sleeps. She also has severe kidney problems.
Her Bradford, Ontario, parents knew she would soon die but found solace in the idea of having Kaylee's heart live on in another baby in the same Toronto hospital who is in desperate need of a transplant.
The parents of the babies met at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children and discovered what seemed like a perfect match.

I can only imagine what both sets of parents are going through.

Socialized healthcare at its best!
And this is what "the messiah" and the dems and libs want for Amerika?

I don't think this would be much different here.

Yeah, BSR missed the point of this story. For a change the hospital is doing all that can be done. I suppose a liberal ethicist might have a different plan, for the possible donor baby , though.

That sucks ass.

Just consider it a post-natal abortion; think of the "baby" as nothing more than an incongruous mass of cells - like a cancer - and then go back to reflecting on how wonderful Teh 0bamessiah is. All will be sunshine and lollipops and ponies and kum-bi-yah in your world in no time.

Sad story all around :( It is all in God's hands, may his will be done :(

can we wait for the baby to die before we cut her heart out?

What a horrible situation for both sets of parents. My heart goes out to them.
