HONOLULU (AP) — It's no Mount Vernon, but the Honolulu apartment building where President Barack Obama grew up might become a national landmark.
Hawaii lawmakers are pushing to put the 12-story, 1960s-era building on the National Register of Historic Places.
The building is the first childhood home of a U.S. president that's a high-rise rental.
Obama was born in Honolulu and lived in a 10th-floor apartment in the building from 1971 to 1979, when he graduated from high school.
His grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, rented a unit in the building for 41 years until she died just before Obama was elected president last year.

Oh God, doesn't anyone in political power in this country have sense anymore?

I would agree with some modification:
Have it razed and the ground sown with salt and a marker erected, "may the blight never rise again"

I was expecting it to be some mud hut in Africa. :fuelfire:
