President Barack Obama sought Monday to make American amends with the Islamic world after eight years of tension, declaring in a speech to the Turkish parliament that he is determined to have a “partnership with the Muslim world.â€
“Let me say this as clearly as I can: the United States is not – and will never be — at war with Islam,†Obama said in remarks delivered in Ankara. “In fact, our partnership with the Muslim world is critical not just in rolling back the violent ideologies that people of all faiths reject but also to strengthen opportunities for all people.â€
Obama’s declaration that the U.S. is not at war with Islam is certain to get huge play throughout the Arab world.
Former President George W. Bush said many times that Islam is a religion of peace. In a 2003 interview with the Arab news network Al Arabiya, he said: “I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God. That's what I believe. I believe that Islam is a great religion that preaches peace.
Obama, seeking to mend strains with a critical ally that bridges Europe and the Middle East, acknowledged “difficulties these last few years.â€

IIRC, Bush stated many times over that we were not at war with Islam, but the radical element of Islam. So, where is the change? Non-existent, but that won't stop the left from hailing "a new era error in foreign relations". This asshat in the 0val office will sell this country down the river just to make him self look better.

In the Arab world, this is yet another sign of weakness. President Doofus isn't smart enough to hire people who understand this.

Don't you remember? There was only fun times and sunshine before Bush. The first attack on the WTC and the attack on the USS Coal were just pranks .

0Bumble stepped in it again I see. He fails to realize that these statements mean NOTHING to those hellbent on destroying us. This is just political pandering. Again.
Now all of DU can rest easy since the Big Zero has proclaimed all is well with U.S./Muslim relations. :whatever:

Bush said similar stuff. He, like I think other Presidents was willing to be buddies with countries that I found to be questionable (ex. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan). I hope Obama doesn't go down that same road, but I fear he might. Oh well.

No, Bush didn't say "similar stuff". ::)
Stupid ass democrats. Throw a burka over your head and get it over with.
