Title: Obama outlines sweeping goal of nuclear-free world

PRAGUE – Declaring the future of mankind at stake, President Barack Obama on Sunday said all nations must strive to rid the world of nuclear arms and that the U.S. had a "moral responsibility" to lead because no other country has used one.

A North Korean rocket launch upstaged Obama's idealistic call to action, delivered in the capital of the Czech Republic, a former satellite of the Soviet Union. But Obama dismissed those who say the spread of nuclear weapons, "the most dangerous legacy of the Cold War," cannot be checked.

"This goal will not be reached quickly — perhaps not in my lifetime," he told a cheering crowd of more than 20,000 in the historic square outside the Prague Castle gates. We "must ignore the voices who tell us that the world cannot change. We have to insist, 'Yes, we can.'"

Dear Obama,

I don't fear a nation with a thousand nuclear weapons who knows they have everything to lose.  I fear the nation with ONE nuclear weapon who feels they have nothing to lose.

President Reagan stared into the eyes of Gorby in Reykjavik in 1986 and brought the Soviet union down by being strong and forceful.

Carl, the reason he could look in Gorby's eyes and walk away from the table at Rekyavik is because he had a military and an intelligence apparatus which allowed him to call Gorbachev's bluff.  Since 1986, the fast attack fleet has been cut by nearly 2/3, strategic weapons by over 1/2, and an intel gathering community which says (thank, Toracelli) that says we can't "deal with unsavory people".

I say this because a lot of what I did in the 1980's and 90's as a submariner had bearing on Reagan being able to walk away when he did, as well as his knowing the capabilities of our other services--that is, until a certain Democrat (Leahy) blabbed to the Soviets and got a lot of good people killed and compomised a lot of our sources and methods.  For the record, you know he's still serving--that should tell you something about the Democrats right there.

This country has been around since 1776...One idiot is not going to ruin it in 4 years.  IN 2012 or even 2010, he will have lost his power and America will wake up and realize HIS direction is not where the USA should be.
