Courtney Love's fury as removal man throws out her prized £8,000 ‘work of art’ with the rubbish
It's a mistake any of us could make. When removal men spotted a dead bird in a matchbox at Courtney Love’s house, they assumed it was junk and threw it out.
But the embryonic chick was an £8,000 artwork, and the widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain is said to be ‘blazing mad’ at its loss.
Insiders say she has thrown a ‘hissy fit’ and fired her assistant for failing to look after such a treasured possession.
The untitled artwork by fashionable British artist Polly Morgan – whose creations are much admired by Kate Moss and Damien Hirst – had been standing on a 6ft plinth in the corner of Ms Love’s bedroom.
But during preparations for the move in Los Angeles, supervised by the assistant, the pedestal was packed ready for shipping to the new house. The chicklet, however, which was normally seen lying under a mini chandelier, was left sitting on a sideboard.

He died 15 years ago today. That's getting close to being a whole generation ago. Did she not remarry? Do kids today even know who Kurt Cobain was?

They probably have the same recognition of him that people my age did of Janis Joplin or Jimi Hendrix. Died when they were very young, but not really fans (although I AM a fan of both) or understand their impact on music.

I played the "Pearl" CD the other day. It had been a long time. It was good to hear her voice.

She was remarkable. Her most powerful tune was "Try (Just a Little Bit Harder)" from her "Kosmic Blues" album. It's a stunner.

Strangely enough, I like the Foo Fighters more than Nirvana. Go figure. Then again, there were a lot more serious contributors to the grunge scene AFTER Cobain died than before, and I say that as a guy who spent a few weekends there in the early 90's (Bangor and ferry trips to Seattle--where I still think Ivar's has awesome chowdah.)

Back when Nirvana was "big", I was mostly listening to Slayer and Pantera - Grunge was too popular, and full of stoned neohippies for my taste.
