Has anyone ever pulled a gun and fired back at one of these shooters?
Probably no.
So what kind of protection is that?
The protection argument is BS.
Ban all the ****ing guns.

It's very hard to tell if this is sarcasm or not.

1. Only happened once, and that was at a church by an off duty cop
Keep in mind, the cop was TRAINED for this, the average Joe the Plumber isn't

3. Yeah, actually
They have. On numerous occasions.
How about "banning all ****ing criminals"? Will that work?

7. Good. Make it a crime to own a gun.
Only the government should own guns. We can trust them/ :whatever:

112. What disgusts me
Is the culture that blames the weapon instead of the perpetrator. Take away the rights of all to own and operate firearms and only criminals will retain them. Remove as many from society as you can and the criminals will find other alternatives.
You must be new here.

85. What are you so afraid of? The fearfulness of gun clingers is ridiculous imo.
Long hot tempered thread.
Surprisingly "Name Removed" seems to be conspicuously absent this discussion so far.

Idiots don't read the news much. Thousands every year protect themselves with a firearm. Just because you usless bags of bones refuse to believe that they do doesn't make it any less true.

I'd suggest to the DUmmies they read John Lott, but their hands might burn as they touched the book.

And IIRC Lott set out to prove that DGU (defensive gun usage) was a myth.

One real life example of a citizen using his own gun to stop a rampage would be the guy who help the cops stop the Texas Tower sniper back in the 1960's.

There is the incident at the Appalachian Law School in 2002 where the shooter was stopped by some quick thinking students with their hand guns.

Actually it was a Dallas cop who led that exchange. Granted there was a civillian in on it, but the shotgun he used was supplied by the cop.

The most recent rampage stopped by a CCW was in a Nevada shopping mall, wasn't it? I think the guy lost his life stopping the puke who was on a rampage, but stop him he did!
-
If memory serves there was one of the school shootings that was stopped by an assistant principal who ran to his car and grabbed his pistol.

80. Yes, we clearly should only trust the government to have guns
The police and military, that's all. Nothing to worry about then.

Wait, what am I saying. No I fully trust our government and everyone that runs it. I mean there couldn't possibly be a chance that someone with less than good intentions gets in there. Nah, that could never possibly happen!
BTW, I don't own a gun, but I support the Constitution, including the 2nd Amendment, and would be fearful of anyone trying to take rights away.

That was pretty much the entire point of the 2nd Amendment.
If they're going to nuke me, why would they taser me first? Waste of a good taser, ini't?
