Well here it is, my official college admission decisions thread
I remember beginning to think about which schools I was going to apply to about two year ago. At the time I told myself and everyone that I would apply to no more than 7, and preferably about 5. As the time to apply crept closer and closer the neurotic worrying and stress that many students suffer began to sink in and my list of schools grew. I ended up applying to 10 schools. Today I heard from another school, completing the admission process for me. I'm absolutely thrilled and honored with the results of my late night essay writing, and I'm certain that my Mom is glad that the process is over and I can now stop with the constant rushing to check the mail and refreshing my email inbox. ;)
Below is a list of the schools I applied to and the admission decisions I received. Yes, I'm saving the announcement of the school I'll be attending until the very end of this post. It's more fun that way! :P
NYU - Accepted
UCLA - Accepted
Berkeley - Accepted
Harvard - Wait-listed
UNC Wilmington - Accepted
Pratt Institute - Accepted
Boston University - Accepted
Ithaca College - Accepted
Alabama - Accepted
UT Austin - Rejected (I now have an excellent reason to pull against UT's football team ;) )
And now for the best part. I'm absolutely thrilled and honored to announce that I'll be attending what has long my dream school and top choice, NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where I will be majoring in film & television. I have also been admitted as a Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholars major in one of the eight undergraduate divisions at NYU. In addition, they participate in a rich combination of seminars, domestic and international travel colloquia, research, educational and cultural activities, and community service. Scholarships and grants make the school affordable for me, and the film program is the best out there. After visiting the campus, and talking with current students and faculty I am certain the NYU is the place for me. I loved the campus, loved the students, loved the faculty, loved everything about it! I felt at home at NYU and I'm happy and excited to have finally found a place that I know will be perfect for me! I look forward to the fall. I can't wait to attend NYU and continue growing as a filmmaker and as a person.
New York DU'ers, can't wait to be your neighbor!
I'm not completely sure I believe her. If she got into UCLA & Cal-Berkeley, how did she not get into Texas? I'm betting she got into NYU and the smaller schools, was rejected by the rest.
-
Yah, that's like me getting accepted to Georgia Tech as an out-of-state but not UNM as in-state. (got into both, btw)
And oh, NYU has about a 40 percent acceptance rate, with an average accepted applicant GPA of 3.81 and SAT I average composite score of 2139 (of a possible 2400).
UT Austin, OTOH, has a 51 percent acceptance rate, average GPA of 3.83 and SAT I of 2185.
Berkeley: 24 percent, GPA 3.90, SAT I 2229.
(Now for GT: 63 percent, 3.86 GPA, 2175 SAT I.)
Meh. Not likely.

Even as whack and left as Austin is .... they don't allow Ava's kind in. She can't cross the border.
KC
-
Hell, I wouldn't want to go to tu either.
-
I'm sure she is full of sh*t, but nonetheless, I wish her well. The child needs an education of a different sort.
I've read some of her stuff. Little Ava isn't all that bright. I guess that's why she's a liberal-in-training.

Austin is whack and left? Who knew? We're trying to change that.

I think she's full of shit.

Yes it is. You want some good hard-line conservatism, head up to College Station.

So do I.

From her description of the curriculum, it sounds more like a liberal wet dream than an education. Well, at least it will cost her and her mother a shitload of money for nothing of value.
-
I wonder if she knows how much those NBC Interns make?
-
UNC Wilmington???? That's a surfer school. She should have said Chapel Hill, or Duke, to up her bouncy score.
-
Gaaaah, why did she have to pick New York? Part of this little film & TV adventure is going to be on my dime, I'm sure of it. BSS & Carl's, too.
-
So do I.
It doesn't matter. When she sees that she can't be Queen of the Political Ball wherever she goes, she'll be hoisting her shirt on Girls Gone Wild soon enough. And ending up on the cutting room floor (in every sense of the word).
-
Bullshit. Ava is community college material.

Hell, I wouldn't want to go to tu either.
Gig'em

Shoosh!!!!!!
Keep her the hell out of my state and east of 95

I figured she'd be more at home in a place like the Albany campus of SUNY.*

Bouncy U of Liberal Kansas, school of lying arts

Something about the S&M club set up on university funds, right? (It happened a couple of years ago. To my knowledge, it's still running and drawing university "student activity fees.")
And, also, it's the capital of The People's Republik of Noo Yawk. I work a half a mile from the SUNY Dormitory Authority. Downtown Albany has all that stuff close by.

No access to 95! - I am due north of your state, and all I need is to have to see Ava's mug protesting the military up here.
-
Can you imagine the college applications she sent out?
"Over the last four years, I have made dozens of viciously anti-Bush animation videos that graphically depict dead and wounded soldiers and children."
Everything would've been about how much she hates President Bush. If anything, I completely believe she was accepted at UC-Berkeley.
-
She actually makes animated videos? Has anyone seen them? What does this chick look like? She sounds like the homely sort, her post sounds needy, as in please, please praise me. Possibly a broken home, bad family life?

I think you're right. I have yet to see more than 3 DUmp Monkeys over there that my donkey would have the slightest interest in, let alone a red blooded American boy!
The whole post spells L-O-S-E-R!

I wonder how DA's dissertation is coming along???

I think she's full of shit.
She's full of something alright.
My prediction is that she'll be in the family way before her 2nd year is completed.

And that would mean..........Abortion and coming back to DU to tell her sob story.

You give her far too much credit. Given the neighborhood and club scene of where she wishes to attend college, I would have given her until the end of freshman orientation, if that long.

My time frame may be off but it's gonna happen. Lil Ava strives for attention. I don't see her as having too many dates in high school. The artsy fartsy folk at NYU will draw to her like a magnet hoping to knock off some of that baby fat.
-
I'm not surprised that Berkley accepted her in. I sort of wonder if they wouldn't have it in them to accept somebody just for being a lefty activist. I'm sort of glad she isn't going there.
I do think if she wants to be successful in college, she'll have to seriously cut back on the activism. I knew activists in college who made good grades, but they normally had a particular focus (Democrat Party, Republican Party, AI, etc). I also knew activists that were all over the map with their multiple causes and didn't make school a priority at all. Heck, I remember one of them telling me that college was a Capitalist institution and that it was wrong to value it. I was obviously speaking with a very open, far to the left Socialist. Anyway, my point is cutting down on the activism would be very good at this point.

Seem 'em. They suck and are disgusting. She should have to answer to the families of every person she exploited in order to bash President Bush.
She's EXTREMELY homely. She always has her pic taken looking down on her to make her appear less fat.
Pretty sure her mom is divorced, plus she's as much of a loon as her daughter.
You can find videos of her here:

Oh now, remember Lil Ava has a significant birth-defect, that of being chin-challenged; her jaw recedes right into her neck.
It's not nice to make fun of how she looks, but it's okay to be bluntly honest about how she looks.
-

lol! I'll have to remember that line.

See, there is a distinction here, but one which if one is a primitive, one fails to notice.
For the record, I've never seen anyone here, or at our old home, make fun of the way Lil Ava looks. We've all commented upon her appearance, but such comments have been wholly accurate and fair.
It's like my own situation.
If I wore my hair short, the absence of ears would be, uh, noticeable.
It's one thing to merely point out the absence of ears, and it's quite another thing to insinuate there's a character defect because of that absence.
Two wholly different things. Decent and civilized people understand the distinction, but it's far too much for primitive minds to grasp.
-
...it's quite another thing to insinuate there's a character defect because of that absence.
You're right, of course. Ava's developing character flaws have nothing to do with her chin.

What chin? :whatever:

Meh. I have seen this heifer. She is an embarassment to my hometown of Bama. Yes, she did need an implant, parents should have availed her of one, but what most concerns me is that vacant look in her eyes. I noticed on one of her "loving" vids, which weren't bad, I have seen much, much worse, where she was getting an award from NOW, and she decried all those "Haters" on the other "side." Um yeah. Can we submit just the threads I have read over there the last few months as Exhibit A in that case, Your Honor? Doubt you need to worry about any offspring disrupting college fun, I am sure she will take care of that matter posthaste. She's a Now girl, now.
-
Meh. I have seen this heifer......
Yeah, I've noticed the vacant, unseeing eyes too.
But that's common among the primitives; being chinless is rather less common.
