6. My theory is that the Obama people feel that the Party's future lies in the South
Thus his move to the hard right after the election.

Seems like nobody's happy.  They're talking about voting the Green party.

Perhaps the DUmmies are looking at this the wrong way.  The CEO of GM that Obama just told to get lost was trying to get the unions to make more concessions.

For all they know his replacement could be more UAW friendly.

But the DUmmies can never see beyond their own nose.

It's funny, almost. I have a BIL big into the Philly labor unions. His family is about as socially conservative as it gets. He pulls the lever for the D ticket because that's what his masters tell him to do.  :whatever:

Lol. He's a member of the Philly Building Trades unions. He's mind-numbingly, obnoxiously pro-Obama. There's no way he's voting R. They tell him what to believe, he believes it. Scary.

I read online about people who say their mother/sister/brother/best friend etc., is a die-hard Obama supporter, and I am just amazed. How in the world do you deal with these people? I am not saying that to be mean or nasty at all. I am serious. I cannot ever imagine that. I literally don't know one single person that voted for Obama. I own my own business, and so I don't have a huge group of people I hang around with, so I am sure there are people that I have talked to briefly that support this crap, but I really am naive about this stuff. On Erf Day, even in my snotty old people neighborhood, people had their houses lit up like Christmas, and the old people behind me that are in their 80's got in their huge old Caddy, and rode circles through the neighborhood, screeching their tires in the cul-de-sac, he was yelling "Woohoo!" out the window. Funny as hell. I admire all of you who deal with this on a daily basis, and salute the fact you have managed not to strangle any of them.

I never--EVER--talk politics anywhere where my BIL or sister are present. I have a big enough family that they're easily avoided at functions if the conversation ever turns toward politics.

Also, please remember that I live in Pennsylvania. That makes 3 out of every five people I meet a complete and utter moron.

Must be tough, having to step over the jizz puddles in the morning every time he goes on TV in the evening.  MO narrowly went for McCain, and we haven't been afflicted with a bunch of moonbats hailing his genius since...I suspect a lot of them are sevretly glad they aren't under the gun to come to his (and their own) defense, thanks to that outcome.

My wife's sister's husband is a full-blown Obot.  My SIL has started to look at Survival Blog and Urban Survival.com, and has convinced the Obot hubby that they need to get a gun for some kind of self-protection.  (A rifle, not a handgun--they'd wait forever for a permit in the PRNY.)  I tried to engage him at the last family gathering, saying, "I thought Obama was all about 'hope and change,' and in his first meeting with Republicans, he gloats, 'I won.'  Sounds like politics as usual to me."  He didn't have a coherant answer for that.  He just went into blather that I tuned out quickly.

Generally, you shoot them in the head and have a nice wake.  :-) I've got some politically challenged relatives (obots that just love the zero) here also.

Agree with rich t below your post--with a furthering of his reasoning.  Since most of them voted for the Obamessiah, they voted to lose their jobs.  The statement, Be very careful what you hope for; sometimes you get it, seems to fit here.

Call me cynical but O has shown over and over again that he says one thing (reduce the deficit) while doing the opposite (sign on to trillions in new spending).
He has also shown that political ideology trumps common sense so my gut feeling is that as time goes along union workers will be given essentially a guaranteed gov funded job.

Perhaps I will be proven wrong but until I see it I don`t believe O will do anything to harm the UAW.
They will completely nationalize the US auto industry first....it is well on its way to that already.

One more thing to throw out for thought.

The pension plan is what is hurting the big three the most making them uncompetative with other auto makers.

Picture a scenario where the gov takes on the pension liabilities to get GM,Chyrsler and Ford solvent.

O is of course hoping for a second term which would put him right on the lead edge of Social Security going insolvent, not sure what the projected year when payouts start to be greater then revenues but think it would be in that second term.

That pyramids days are numbered so perfect timing to dovetail auto workers pensions with nationalizing all our 401Ks/IRAs to fund the immediate payments.

Just a theory of what could be in the works.

Horseshit!*

There are far too many union votes to risk losing to allow that to happen. Nor will the government allow these companies to fold which would be an admission the centralized planning and control schemes were wrong. The UAW workers will be paid with taxpayer money--probably with raises and expanded benefits--even if GM and Chrysler can't sell another car. We are not witnessing the government's destruction of a major industry, we are witnessing the creation of a massive new welfare project.

I dare anyone to argue to the contrary.

* not mad at you, just mad

Agree. "teh messiah" fired the CEO of GM. Any word on the president of the UAW?   :whatever:

The govt has apparently ordered them to stop work on the Volt, improve mileage (smaller deathtraps) and stop making SUV/trucks which make up 11 of their 20 profitable vehicles. GM is finished.

Okay, here's what I think is going to happen. Obama is going to end up keeping his hands clean by having this get to the point where GM has to file Bankruptcy. Otherwise, going ahead and saying that the g'ment is backing warranties, doesn't make sense. He's setting the stage. O.k., so after they file, it will be some random judge who will force the unions to tear up contracts and make concessions, and the big O won't be the bad guy. This is all a move for the O gang to come in and place the people they want in they board of dir. and remake this into a greencartopia. They will then make cars that no one wants, but due to stricter demands on regs, incentives, rebates, and the rising gas price, (I say gas is at 4 dollars by May/June), they will insure that people buy Obama Motors mobiles. I think this may be pretty close to what we see, I really do. Make no mistake, I watched the lil dog and pony show with the new head of GM, yesterday. He KNOWS he is owned by Obama. This will not end well. Also, how in the farkin sark is GM offering to pay payments for folks who lose their job for one year? Uh, THEY ARE BROKE! Also, notice how Chrysler got thrown to the wolves? Fiat was downgraded to junk bond status today. This is all kinds of rotten.  :thatsright:

Nope. Obama will now "control" the bankruptcy process. protecting the UAW. The Obama will also be appointing the next Board of Directors of Government Motors.
