Flim-Flam Obama Man: The “New Democrat” President's Wall Street Loyalties Get Clearer Every Day
March 27, 2009 By Paul Street

"It's time to put our differences aside. Will you be part of the solution?"
- Nightly Chevron commercial at the end of "The News Hour" on the "Public" Broadcasting System, March 12-March 25, 2009

Many on what passes for a left in the United States have been led to believe that Barack Obama is a "Mr. Smith-goes- to-Washington" character eager and ready to struggle against entrenched corporate and financial interests. A considerable number of so-called "left liberals" make curious bedfellows with right-wing noisemakers (including dangerous reactionary nut-jobs like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Bernard Goldberg) in fantasizing that a leftist has taken up residence in the White House. But, as Harper's Magazine president John R. MacArthur notes, this "is an absurd reading of Obama," who MacArthur rightly describes as "a moderate with far too much respect for the global financial class" and as "surely the unleft, unradical, president."

Look, for example, at the new administration's recently leased "financial stabilization" program. Consistent with the president's own recent description of himself as a "New Democrat", Obama will spend untold trillions of dollars on further taxpayer handouts to the giant Wall Street firms who spent millions on his campaign. The in-fact "deeply conservative" Obama is too attached to those firms and their so-called "free market" ideology to undertake the elementary bank nationalizations and public financial restructuring that are obviously required to put the nation's credit system on an at once sound and socially responsible basis. His plan to guarantee the financial, insurance, and real estate industries' toxic, hyper-inflated assets while keeping existing Wall Street management is (what liberal economist James K. Gailbraith rightly considers) a massive (and deluded) effort to "keep perpetrators afloat". The unradical liberal economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman is understandably "filled with a sense of despair" by Obama's bank rescue format, which "recycles Bush administration policy - specifically the ‘cash for trash' plan proposed, then abandoned, six months ago by then-Treasury secretary Henry Paulsen"

I'm not quoting the whole OP because it's not the topic of this thread, it's just what got the ball rolling.

Here's what got my attention.  Really still amazing to read some of this stuff and to know there's idiots out there who look to DC for their very existance.

The plot starts out with "Hussein is god and can do no wrong" cult follower DainBramaged primitive commenting on the one's commenting.

10. The PUMAs are out in force tonight........

what amazes me is the concerted effort to rec these threads so that maybe they make the 'greatest' page.

How trivial.

32. puma??? are you freakin kidding me??

No ****ing way. I am a mother who voted for obama hoping for the best. my suspicions have now been confirmed that he is a typical DLC corporatist who will bail them out before us.

Why am I so vehement about his lack of action to help the little people? Because my husband is very close to losing his job which means we lose our health insurance. I am disabled and my older son has type one Diabetes. Between the two of us our meds cost close to 2500.00 a month without insurance.

Now tell me to give him "time"! **** it, time is up. People are literally dying because of this pandering to the corporations.

Wow!  Hard for me to imagine placing my trust in some bureaucrat to fix my problems for me.  I read it from the primitives over and over agin, but I still just can't place myself even viewing things that way.

They live in a world of make believe....no doubt they thought that on Jan 21st there would be a letter in the mailbox from O telling them that all their  (mostly self created) problems didn`t exist any longer.

Yet they say we are the ones who only care about our self interests. :whatever:

I'm wondering how their ancestors ever created these idiots without government assistance.

I'm wondering how their ancestors ever created these idiots without government assistance.

They are the result of our great advances in medical science displacing the natural order of things.....a couple of generations ago, they would have died out through "economic Darwinism".....

Just goes to show that all things good or bad.......have unintended consequences......

Stupid article isn't even internally consistent.

If Obama were protecting corporate interests Limbaugh and Hannity wouldn't be calling him a socialist.

Dear lord why won't the DUchebags just let Darwin do what they believe in so much.  Look at the benefits:

1. They prove Darwin correct.
2. They rid the planet of people.
3. They make Jukin happy because the people they rid the planet of, are leeches that serve no useful purpose or add anything to society.

I haven't read any of Mr. Street's writings, but something in this article has made me curious. The article refers to 0 as "deeply conservative". What exactly would 0 have to do to be "deeply liberal"? I also have to wonder how he would categorize Lenin, Mao, etc,

He also points to Hannity, Limbaugh and Goldberg as wingnuts, and make sure to point out that Krugman is in no way a radical. What a shiteous piece of writing.

Lenin, Mao, and company would be referred to as "mere beginners"....

There is no left too left for these moron's tastes....

The most selfish people on the planet post at DU. I'm a mother, too. I voted for McCain (okay, I really voted for Sara Palin). I wasn't bamboozled, I knew I was voting for the lesser of two evils. My biggest fear is that the big Zer0's arrogance, ignorance, and incompetence will make life more dangerous for my son. Especially since the one who would send him there has so little respect for the military that he snubbed MEDAL OF HONOR recipients and their families on his coronation. Didn't even have the courtesy of an RSVP. Guess neither of us got what we wanted, huh leftchick?

If I had big big problems, I wouldn't want the federal gov't anywhere around me.  Even with something like Katrina.  They either cannot move fast enough when we need them to, or else they move too damn fast, signing things without reading them, shredding the constitution.

The OT article was too wacky to spend any time on.

Does anyone know the leftchick's story? She says she is disabled, (technically so am I, since I was in my early 30's), and her oldest son has type 2 diabetes. I guess what I am wondering, is how old is? Most people aren't disabled to the point they can't work at all, and still have children that are young enough that they still have to insure. I work from home, why can't she? And if the son's old enough, diabetes doesn't usually keep people from holding down a job. If he is at least 16, then why can't he work flipping the burgers?

Well, these are people for whom ANYTHING that happens throughout the course of an average day is a new opportunity to be victims. It's why I say they aren't happy unless they're somebody's bitch. It's impossible to be a victim if you're in control of your own life. Something that for us would be a minor inconvenience sends them into orgasmic depression. There's no solution to any problem for which they don't have a major complication. DUmmies are the porn stars of angst and victimhood.

They are victims of gravity, air pressure, weather fronts, tides and anything and everything they can think of.
