Obama Proposes $210 Billion for New Jobs
JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) — Democrat Barack Obama said Wednesday that as president he would spend $210 billion to create jobs in construction and environmental industries, as he tried to win over economically struggling voters.
Obama's investment would be over 10 years as part of two programs. The larger is $150 billion to create 5 million so-called "green collar" jobs to develop more environmentally friendly energy sources.
Sixty billion would go to a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank to rebuild highways, bridges, airports and other public projects. Obama estimated that could generate nearly 2 million jobs, many of them in the construction industry that's been hit by the housing crisis.
"This agenda is paid for," Obama said as the Republican National Committee promoted an "Obama Spend-O-Meter" online to track his proposals and portray him as a tax-and-spend liberal. Obama explained that the money for his spending proposals will come from ending the Iraq war, cutting tax breaks for corporations, taxing carbon pollution and raising taxes on high income earners.
Obama, who has faced criticism that he doesn't have enough policy specifics, asked autoworkers at the General Motors plant in Janesville, Wis., to "bear with me" as his began a policy speech that he said would be unlike his typical rousing addresses to rallies. He read from a TelePrompTer in a cavernous training room, flanked by sparkling new vehicles and a large American flag.
"Today I want to take it down a notch," Obama said. "This is going to be a speech that's a little more detailed. It's going to be a little bit longer, not as many applause lines."

Suddenly, The BarackStar! is made of specifics. In this program, he wants to hire all the people that lose their jobs due to his other economic proposals to work for the federal government.

Great--can't keep your job at McDonalds cause you're too stupid, lazy, or incompetent? Become a government worker!
Words fail me sometimes. This isn't one of them, and most of them are of the four-letter variety.
Bread and circuses, people--this is the way of the Obamanation.

his spending proposals will come from ending the Iraq war.....
Ah so the deficit that the left has been screaming about "due to the illegal war" is actually not a concern for them -- they just want to utilize that money for social programs.
Not that I believe that he will actually "end" the Iraq war (and I have to laugh that he thinks that by pulling troops and resources out of Iraq will immediately end the conflict and not open a big old can of Islamic fundamentalist worms in that region -- hahahaha). The Democrats have had how long now to end it? Yeah it isn't happening. He doesn't have enough support in Congress to actually do it.
Yawn.

Well, we KNEW that was going to come up, but I'm wondering about the other two. "Cutting back on tax cuts for corporations"... funny, I didn't know corporations paid taxes. Also, he wants to create jobs, but yet.... tax "polluters" with "carbon credits". So a lot of people in the factory business are going to be out of work for that when the owners of the factories have to lay off their workers to pay for this stupidity.... wonderful.
And of course... taxing the **** out of those who create the jobs I.E. the highest wage earners. Those who take the vacations, buy the cars, boats, eat out at the resturants to further fuel the economy... no, we wanna stick it to them the hardest! :whatever:
If this is "change", then I don't want any part of it.

I'm not to worried about Obama. Since it looks like he's gonna get the nomination now, I don't doubt that McCain will be able to sink him. The guys got nothing in his corner. He's Black... and popular. He has no military background, no Washington experience, he's shown he's got no head for foreign relations, and his fiscal plans will most likely be torn apart.
McCain might not be a lot of peoples favorite, but he's a veteran politician. He's going to chew Barack up and spit him back out.
And whatever McCains politics are, theres little doubt in my mind that he's a better choice for this country then Obama is.

the pitbull that is McCain is going to have a ball with Obama... cant wait to see these two head to head in the debates. Obama's gonna look like a kindergartner up there against ..well.. anybody.

^I'm banking on it. I'm hoping that McCain getss the full force of the GOP behind him. This is the fight of our lives. At least I think it is. Hillary is not such a given anymore. She's got way too much baggage and can be taken down. Barackstar is a scary cult leader promising rainbows and lollipops to people who don't care or understand the cost. We need to circle the wagons.

I really can't read this shizzit without becoming thoroughly pissed off :badmood:
I couldn't even read through it, as I was seeing red when I read the very first line about him spending that much on creating jobs in enviromental industries.
I really, really think he is going to be the next POTUS, and I really, really need to just not even know what he is cooking up, because I know it's rotten :censored:

and since when did the govt 'create prosperity"? if they could pull off that magic trick, then they would have already done it and we'd all be walking on rainbows.

Well, look at the paradises that are traditional democrat strongholds: NOLA, Detroit, California -- no crime, everyone works, budget surpluses, flowery meadows and rainbow skies, and rivers made of chocolate, where the children dance and laugh and play with gumdrop smiles.

Oh yeah! I forgot about those places :-)

I'm not counting Hilary out just yet ... there looks to being a legal fight between Obama and Hilary about those delates still. and then the super delegates are kind of hanging out there.
we shouldnt underestimate the old girl just yet. but I think McCain can take either one of them pretty well.
I can get behind him now.

Yeah. Laurie, she's still way ahead in PA and Ohio, and I think Juan would do marginally better if Klinton is the nominee.
The socialist Muslim apostate from Illinois needs a good vetting so Americans can see what a leftist nutjob this empty suit is, and his proposal is a good start. Anyone who wants to beat him should force him to talk about the issues, that'll do it.

Excatly. Billary's ego has no bounds. If Obama does prevail, Bill will probably think, "Look at what we did for you in the 90s, and this is how you treat us?" Then, he will destroy the BarackStar. Didn't Bill Clinton say that Hillary and McCain are "good friends?" The Clinton machine will be used.
