Poll of change: Obama’s job approval slipping to ‘50-50’ (http://www.bostonherald.com/news/us_politics/view/2009_03_23_Poll_of_change:_Obama_s_job_approval_slipping_to_‘50-50_/srvc=home&position=recent)
The honeymoon is over, a national poll will signal today as President Obama’s job approval stumbles to about 50 percent over the lack of improvement with the crippled economy.
The sobering numbers come as the president backpedals from two prime-time gaffes - one comparing his bowling score to a Special Olympian and another awkwardly laughing about the economy, which prompted Steve Kroft of “60 Minutes†to ask “are you punch-drunk?â€
Pollster John Zogby said his poll out today will show Americans split on the president’s performance. He said the score factors out to “about 50-50.â€
Some polls show Obama coasting with a 65 percent job approval, but not in Zogby’s tally.
“The numbers are going down,†Zogby told the Herald. “It’s not because of the gaffes, but a combination of high expectations and that things aren’t moving fast enough with the economy.â€
As for the president’s love of the limelight, it could backfire, according to a media watcher.

Damn, he's even beating Carter in nose diving ratings. 2 months, a record.
-
And this is Zogby--so the libs can't even claim it's "right-winger" Rasmussen's fault.
But I'm sure they'll try to spin it somehow.

It wouldn't matter if it's a DailyKos poll. If it says anything bad about Obama they'll call it a right-wing hack.
-
I ignore that lefty spin. I believe Rasmussen is the most accurate, because they hit it exactly in the 11/4 election. Much as I didn't want to believe it leading up to the fateful day. Also, they use electronic responses, so you don't get that human bias, like inflection of voice, or fear of being judged racist. You can say "I hate Obama" by pushing a button.

Thump, thump, thump.
New nickname for Unca Zero: "Thumper."
-
And this will lead every newscast starting in 3...2...
Oh wait...I forgot...different President...different set of rules.

It took Bush around 6-7 years to get that low, and that's with just about all of the democrat Congress, the mainstream media, and numbskull moonbats bashing and demonizing Bush every single day. It only took Obama 60 days to get this low, even with a fawning press and zombie-like supporters.

I thought it was just over 2 years. Doesn't matter much. Thumper did it in just 2 months.
-
Still too high for my taste....but we are moving in the right direction.
-
Well, when you promise to give out free ponies and tell people they won't have to pay for their mortgage or car payments those are the same people that do NOT want to have to wait for it. While the kool aid drinkers won't ever admit it, anyone with half a brain can see he really doesn't know what he is doing and all he can do is make a pretty speech...with the help of Mr. Teleprompter that is.
-
I suspect the result of this polling data is Obama will be on television even more than he is now.
Numbers.. Falling! Must...Campaign.. Harder!!

I don't remember, but were Bush's press briefings shown on a daily basis on CNN? CNN is now the All Barack Channel.

However, Obama's Job Performance Drops Under 50%
UTICA, NY - A March 20-23 Zogby Interactive survey shows 45% of likely voters believe the nation is headed in the right direction, a gain of five points from a similar survey completed on March 5. At the beginning of the year, only 14% held that positive view.
However, President Barack Obama's ratings for job performance and favorability did not improve over earlier this month. In the most recent survey, 49% rate his job performance as excellent or good and 50% as fair or poor (less than 1% were not sure.) That is a dip of three points from the previous poll. The percentages who feel very or somewhat favorable toward Obama remained unchanged between the two polls, with 55% now and 56% in the previous poll.
...
It's on a knife edge.

I remember it was dubbed the Clinton News Network when slick willie was in office. So, no surprise there. :whatever:

Mark Steyn filled in for Rush yesterday and said comparing Obama to Carter is an insult to Carter and that there has never been a start to a presidential administration like this in living memory.
-
I'd laugh if he became the first President who was beaten in the Primaries four years from now.

He keeps this up, it might be likely.

Does anybody think this downward approval rating might be because of some of his new taxes? He promised to only tax the rich. However, he's put a major tax hike on smokes effective April 1st. In response, the manufacturers raised their prices early so they could get their money. They were already expensive. Now, we're talking about addicted people spending even more, and many smokers are poor. As dumb as this may sound, could that have something to do with it?

Thats definitely erroding into the more independant base, and even possibly into the more die hard democratic base.
His seeming aloofness to the whole situation isn't helping either. You don't respond to a "crisis" as he puts it, by going onto Leno. America is starting to open their eyes to what it is they actually elected. A campaigner whose spent more time trying to get the job, then preparing for it.

He joked on Leno, saying he can walk and chew gum at the same time....meaning he can focus on the economy AND go on talk shows to make fun of the handicapped speak to the american people.
People stopped laughing along with him....especially when some have lost their jobs or are paying for inflated grocery prices...

Obama is going to be on national TV tonight (AGAIN) and Rahm Emmanuel is getting an hour of airtime from CNN at 9pm.

Waste of bandwidth... both of them.

What will he say today? Is it an off the cuff interview or Teleprompter speech?
-
Most likely another teleprompter reading. CNN is doing a segment on Senate Democrats that are opposed to O'Prompter's spending right now.
