Title: Obama plans huge pledge drive for his policies
Post by: BlueStateSaint on March 22, 2009, 08:35:43 AM
Can you imagine the uproar that would ensue if President Bush had tried this?  Lefties would still be screaming.  Yeah, this came out a couple of days ago, but it's still worth posting, because you could meet one of the Obots today at your door . . .

Obama plans huge pledge drive for his policies

President Obama's appearance on "The Tonight Show" - the first ever for a sitting chief executive - was only a small part of the president's so-called permanent campaign. A bigger move comes Saturday, when Obama will ask 13 million people on his campaign e-mail list to go door-to-door to raise support for his agenda.

The Pledge Project Canvass is an unprecedented effort by a president to reach beyond Congress and tap grassroots supporters for help. Volunteers recruited online by Obama's Organizing for America, a post-election group, will ask citizens to sign a pledge in support of the president's policies on energy, health care and education.

Those who pledge will be asked for their e-mail addresses so the Obama-ites can keep in touch.

"This is just the beginning for us," said Jeremy Bird, deputy national director of Organizing for America, in an online video to Obama supporters this week. "The establishment in Washington won't welcome this new direction easily. We can't let this plan be debated solely behind closed doors in Washington, D.C."

Analysts marvel

Technology and political analysts marvel at the potential of Obama's attempt to transfer his successful campaign techniques - a melding of street-level community organizing and new media tools - to advance his policy agenda.

Be sure to tell them exactly what you think of the Obamessiah!  Questions about the Free Poines would be appropriate . . .

Unfortunately, I doubt I'll see anyone.  I live on a military base, and the liberal population of the military is smart enough to not try something like this.

You would think that, but you should have seen my company accountability formation on 5 Nov 08... Lots of "Yes We Did" and all that... they even tried to have us sound off with that, but Top squashed that idea.

Are there likely to be more than a handful of true believers willing to volunteer to do this? There can't be that many unemployed moonbats can there?

Is it just me...or do you guys fine it more than just a little disturbing that he's asking Americans to basically make a pledge to him?

No, it's not just you.

I'm hearing Living Colour's "Cult of Personality" on the in-head sound system right now.  Coincidence?  I think not.

Does anyone know if there are places that rent guard dogs?  I don't think my lovable little beagle will do much to deter these loons if they show up.

The one thing Obama knows how to do is campaign - and seeing that he has yet to actually stop campaigning and start governing tells me that he and his cabinet really haven't a clue. At this point popular sentiment shouldn't matter - make the hard choices regardless of what it does to poll numbers, and if those choices prove to be right, then Obama and the Democrats will be rewarded with increased numbers in 2010.

I've the perfect plan - when they show up, break out a couple of copies of the Watchtower and ask them if they have accepted Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. They will run screaming into the night.

I've been floating around the net. I haven't noticed a big turnout of the mindless minions this weekend.
Is the pledge campaign a bust?

It might fly in NYC, Boston, and LA.  Otherwise--meh, not so much.

I guess "the messiah" didn't get the memo which stated that he won the election in November.

The American people are, pure and simple, burned out from the 2008 campaign.  He is only hurting himself -- WHICH IS FINE BY ME -- by going back on the campaign trail to push his agenda instead of doing the job he was elected to do.

And to think he was one of those dims/libs who chastised G.W. about taking his eye off the ball.

I'm severely torn between telling them what I really think, or making adoring noises and signing up for moleage opportunities.  Well, it's not likely to really come up, I suppose, I live in an area where a Goth with a clipboard and an Obama button would have rejection overload and possible life-threatening injuries within three houses of its start point.
