President Obama issued an unprecedented video appeal to Iran today, offering a "new beginning" of diplomatic engagement to reverse decades of distrust and animosity between the two nations.
In an extraordinary tape, which was aired early on selected networks in the Middle East, the President said that he wanted to "speak directly to the people and leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran" to tell them that he was committed to establishing "constructive ties".
Hours after he made the first-ever appearance by a sitting President on an evening chat show to try to defend his economic policies, the US leader used his message to Iran to urge Tehran to take its "rightful place" in the world if it renounced terror and embraced peace.
But the hardline Middle East government was quick to respond with a barely tepid response that listed what Iran perceives to be US failures over the previous decade ...

Well, that is interesting. I did NOT get the threat the second time I tried it. Only thing I can think is there was some pop up of some sort that did not appear the second time.

I don't imagine that B-Ho is bothered by that in the slightest. It's a sacrifice he's willing to make.

If his actions on the economy (deliberately spending us into oblivion) and defense (axing vital weapons and equipment and large budget cuts) are any indication, I would have to agree on that.

The Iranians should have acted all grateful and concilliatory. L'il 'O would get so wrapped-up in his ego as a great peacemaker the sand-rats could play him like a fiddle.

He got the response that I expected. Iran doesn't care who's president. They hate "the Great Satan" no matter who sits in the White House.

President Obama has made TWO major blunders in the mid-east. With Iran, his cute little vid that will make the libs gush, but it is a DECLARATION OF SURRENDER to the Shi'a "Twelvers" that run Iran. Yes, the Mahdi's faithful are pleased, qand will treat The President with contempt. Then there is the $900,000,000 that the President wants to send to THE Gaza strip. This will be "sold" to the people there as Jizya, a special tax paid by defeated unbelievers to their Muslim lords.
