Oh my.
Question, however.
Didn't the snobbish primitive recently go back into nursing--she had been running a medical billing service out of her home--just to "make money"?
The primitives can be so silly.

Delta Dental is a prime example of an insurance company that is only out to make money.
I just got off the phone, arguing with a representative about what they say they will cover and what they actually do. I told him I wanted to cancel my coverage, but guess what? Since I pay for 3 months at a time, I can cancel but get no refund for the 2 months I have left in my time.
Oh yes, just because they say they will cover a filling at 50% of their allowed doesn't mean you owe the other 50%. Oh no. It means you owe the other 50% PLUS whatever the difference is the dentist charges. And yes, that is for a dentist who is a preferred provider. If he wasn't a preferred provider, then you would owe 50% PLUS whatever the difference is the dentist charges. "Read your policy book".
argh argh argh.
I am a health care provider, do my own insurance billing, and have strong opinions about which companies exist to provide a service, and which exist only to steal money with lies. Delta Dental is the latter.
So, why did I have them? I played the numbers with 1 abcessed tooth and crown and saved maybe $150 over cost of insurance, but ALSO saved $3.00 for 2 fillings! Woohoo!
Good Gods.

1. So is Care Credit
So not EVER get involved with them. You can file bankruptcy and they will sell the account over and over so you can NEVER get them removed from your report.
Hmmm. The aged warriorette at some time must have filed for bankruptcy.

2. I suggest you look at Dental Health Services
https://www.dentalhealthservices.com /
I sell a plan for federal employees that they are a provider for and they are a wonderful company to work with.
They provide plans for WA OR and CA.
I have no idea about.....after which follows a sales spiel

3. Thank you, will look into them. Edited, nearest dentist is an hour away.
Will still research, thank you.
I live a couple hours from Seattle, nearest dentist is an hour away. Other than that, they look pretty good, if they pay what they seem to say they will.

4. Dental coverage is awful. I have Delta through my employer, at a cost of about $36 a month (both my employer's and my contributions). Never used them for last 6 years until now. They have a yearly cap of $1500 per insured person. I need about $4500 in dental work prior to starting my radiation treatments.
I dunno.
Whenever franksolich has needed dental care, he's gotten it whether it was paid by insurance or 100% out of pocket, whether franksolich was wealthy or poor at the time.
To have something done only because one has insurance, and not to have it done if one doesn't have insurance, is a ****ing lamebrained way to live.

I have Delta Dental Insurance. They have been more than fair with me. Lord knows I just had a boat load of dental work done. Delta Dental paid every cent as the policy provides. I expected nothing more or less.
The Little DUmmie Goon, being in the "health profession" must be aware ALL health insurance policies payouts are based on industry standards. If your dentist is charging too much, that's your fault.
Gad! Those Little Goons are stupid to the bone.

I have MetLife and it's good. I have to say I once went to a more expensive dentist and yeah it cost me a lot more. But now I go to not only a better dentist but he's much more reasonable. Now there are things that my insurance doesn't cover, like the fluoride mouth wash I use, but hey, it's only $18 for a 3 month supply. And they weren't covering the extra cleanings (I go every 3 months) but they're only $65 out of pocket.
I'm not complaining that they don't cover all of that stuff, their policy clearly dictates what they do and do not cover.

I actually left with a cheaper in network provider to a more expensive out of network provider. I was simply tired of my mouth hurting very bad every time I left his office.

She might have fewer dental problems if she didn't "meth around".
