MANTECA, Calif. (CBS13) - He has been confined to a wheelchair for 20 years. Now a paraplegic man is walking again, and his doctors call it a miracle. CBS13 went to Manteca to find out how a spider bite helped get him back on his feet.
A motorcycle accident almost killed David 21 years ago. At the time he might have wished he was dead.
Ever since, David's been relying on his wheelchair to get around. Then the spider bite. A Brown Recluse sent him to the hospital, then to rehab for eight months.
<snip>
"When they zapped my legs, I felt the current, I was like 'whoa' and I yelled," he says.
He felt the current and the rush of a renewed sense of hope.
"She says,'your nerves are alive. They're just asleep'," explained David.
Five days later David was walking.

Interesting. I'd like to know how that happened, but there's nothing in the article.

Incredible, what a great story. I'd like to know how it happened too.
-
Wow! That's really cool!

Now if he develops superhuman strength and starts shooting webs out of his wrists, we may be onto something big here.

Dang it, that would have happened if the spider had bitten a healthy person, but it was just able to cure his paralysis.
Cool story, though.

He'll be able to use his recharged legs for a stroll around his jail cell. He's been arrested on an outstanding warrant.
:whatever:

Prison for a contempt of court charge? In Commiefornia, where only those on the public dole are considered first class citizens?
Not likely, I'd wager.
Maybe he'll have to perform some community service - like "sponsor" a few illegal families, for example - or even spend a couple nights in the county jail, but prison?
I realize the sarcasm, but the "prison" thing in Commiefornia is almost nonsensical.

Oh, for Pete's sake, Eupher. Do you feel better now?
The story said he was in jail. I used the term prison. Sue me.
Damn.

Wow, a might testy there. Do YOU feel better now?
Prison is one thing. Jail is quite another. Simple arithmetic. [shrugs]

It was just a silly post, Eupher. I guess I'm a bit dumbfounded as to why felt you needed to waste a post explaining to me the difference between prison and jail, as though I'm a new student learning English.
I will fix my post to reflect your correction. I don't want anyone's sensibilities being offended.

Sigh.
Since this has gone beyond stupid, nowhere in my first post - the one that caused you all the angst - did I explain anything about what a jail is and what a prison is. I merely questioned the ridiculousness of even the idea of sending some guy to prison for a contempt of court charge. Take it personal if you like - that's you're problem, not mine.
And call your post silly if you want, but there's all kinds of silly all over this forum.
Doesn't make it accurate. I happen to like accuracy.
