51. There is Medicaid for the poor but you know as well as I do unless your
hospital is a publically funded one like a county hospital, there will be no admission into a hospital room unless payment is confirmed first. They will send the patient home or transfer him to another hospital who will take him. These kind of delays cause unnecessary suffering and even deaths. One of our DUers, Andy Stephenson, was allowed to die by John Hopkins Hospital because they wouldn’t let him have a life saving operation in time to save him until the check had cleared.
How the story changes over the years; now it's Johns Hopkins' fault.

Hey franksolich - It's good to see you.

... they wouldn’t let him have a life saving operation in time to save him ...
For it being a "life saving operation in time to save him ", which to normal people would mean he didn't have a minute to spare, Andy S. sure didn't rush to a competent hospital in his own State to have said operation. Seemed he piddled around for several weeks before even heading to Maryland.
.
-
I thought he had the 'Life saving operation' and died from an infection after the surgery. It could be argued that he might have lived longer had he not had that 'life saving operation'.
-
I have no idea just what did happen to Andy.
I've heard that Johns Hopkins would do the surgery first, then declined when he didn't have insurance.
I've heard that the DUmp had an (illegal) fund raiser for Andy, so he could have the surgery at Johns Hopkins.
I've heard that the said raised money was sent to Johns Hopkins, Andy, a friend of Andy, back to the donors, and "just disappeared".
I've heard he had the surgery in Washington State, where he got state Medicaid.
I've heard he died from pancreatic cancer, because he waited too long.
I've heard he had surgery for pancreatic cancer, but it was too advanced to same him.
I've heard he didn't need the surgery, it wasn't pancreatic cancer, just an infection.
I've heard he had the surgery, it wasn't cancer, but he died from a post-operative infection.
Does anyone really know just what REALLY happened to Andy?
(Does anyone really give a ....)

He didn't die from the cancer. He died from a post op infection.
This old chestnut about how we killed ANdy is such utter bullsh*t it's pathetic.

Just as an aside...if you go to scamdy.com, it takes you to DW. :-)

That's because after scamdy.com outlived its usefulness, I let the domain name lapse.
Fat Che then snapped it up, as if it was beachfront real-estate.

In reply to the second sentence, nah.
The late red round one was preliminarily diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late November, early December, 2004.
The late red round one underwent surgery in Seattle in late February, early March, 2005.
At that time, it was determined it was too late.
News with which the late red round one accepted with calmness and equanimity.
The "fund-raiser," which had purposes other than raising money for medical treatment for the late red round one, started at 3:30 in the afternoon, central time, April 28, 2005.
The late red round one had never sought medical treatment at Johns Hopkins.
Until a month before he died of a post-operative infection in early July 2005, the late red round one was visiting friends on the eastern coast, staying at the palatial Streisandian digs of the Leona Helmsley of DUmmieland, the "flyarm" primitive, in New Jersey.
The late red round one was never especially interested in the "fund-raiser," making only few, odd, and erratic appearances while Doug's ex-wife was carrying it on.
I think Doug's ex-wife owes an explanation, and an apology, to her fellow primitives on Skins's island--and to my fellow alum Skins, whose island's reputation was stained, ruined by her half-baked prank--but it's alas too late for that now, Doug's ex-wife having some time ago degenerated into premature and severe arteriosclerosis from the overuse and abuse of mind-altering pharmaceuticals, and so she has no idea what happened.
Does anybody give a ****?
No.

Oh the story changes depending on the template at any moment. Last week someone was intimating the Bush/Cheney cabal did it because of his work on "vote fraud". I did some pretty extensive research and have drawn my own conclusions (unlike the Andy sycophants I have actual evidence to back up my assumptions) but there's really no point in going into it again. However, the fact that DU has made him their personal heroic martyr says a lot about them.
African Americans look to MLK and Malcolm X, men who truly and bravely put themselves in the line of fire to stand for their principles. Women look to Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Clara Barton. Women who put themselves on the front line and risked their lives for causes they believed in.
DU looks to Andy Stephenson, a fat gay man whose lover thought so highly of him he remodeled the bathroom instead of paying for lifesaving surgery for his partner, who flitted around the country and basically partied his way to Johns Hopkins, who helped Bev Harris sucker the DUmmies out of thousands of dollars, and then came back again and suckered them into believing he had terrible disease and needed money for a lifesaving operation (despite having no proof and no symptoms of said disease) and suckered them out of several thousand dollars more.

And madam, one other detail.
Remember those jpgs of the "checks"?
They were certified "checks."
Certified checks don't have to clear.

But...he's dead, right? I mean, the story has a happy ending, right?

Well, yeah, sure, it has an ending.
But it's really really really hard to care any more.

The delay was months, not weeks. The first indication Andy had of a problem was in January, from his DU posts. He indicated no later than February that the doctor's thought he had pancreatic cancer. By the time pancreatic cancer is detected, you are usually knocking on death's door, and they operate as quickly as possible because that type of cancer spreads quick. It was never stated for sure, but I believe his tumor was likely benign and not cancerous.

The second-biggest mystery--after the question of why Doug's ex-wife pulled this silly half-baked prank--is how the late red round one managed to stay so healthy looking for so long, all the way through May and mid-June, until he went into the hospital in Seattle.
It's my understanding that those afflicted with pancreatic cancer show it, and long before they leave this time and place.
The late red round one must have had really good genetics or something, to remain looking in the prime of life so long.....unless the photographs posted of the late red round one in May and June were not taken in May and June.

Oh, I know that.
I was just recanting ALL that was posted (that I could remember) on PJ Comix "DUmmie FUnnie" concerning Andy....

Oh, I find it a little funny, in a pathetic sort of way, that it's still important to them. Well, that and the fact that the cause of death changes depending upon what "DU truth" they're trying to prove at the time.
