NEW YORK, March 17 (UPI) -- Natasha Richardson died Tuesday, a day after suffering a head injury in a Canadian skiing accident, a source close to her family told OK!. She was 45.
The British-born actress was the daughter of stage and film great Vanessa Redgrave and the late director-producer Tony Richardson. She also was the sister of actress Joely Richardson and the wife of Northern Irish actor Liam Neeson, her co-star in the 1994 movie "Nell."
She had two sons with Neeson -- 13-year-old Michael and 12-year-old Daniel.
Richardson appeared in the movies "Gothic," "Blow Dry," "The Parent Trap," "Haven," "Maid in Manhattan," "Asylum" and "The White Countess." She won a Tony Award for her work in the Broadway revival of the musical "Cabaret."

I heard earlier today she was pronounced brain dead... I thought they would wait before taking her off life support. :(
-
Thats a shame. Can't say I ever saw any of her work.
-
Dangit! I was hoping for some sort of miracle. :(
-
How horrible!
I read earlier that various news sites were disputing each other's claims about her dead vs. critical. So sad. I too was hoping for a miracle.

I'm like you. I know of her because she was Redgrave's daughter, but I'm not familar with her work.
What a shame. May God be with her family and especially her young children. Amen.

I just did a Google search and they still seem to be in conflict... No absolute confirmation that she's dead has been posted yet. I'm still holding out a little hope, but I fear it will be in vain. :(

No good link yet, but I just saw a news flash that life support was pulled a couple hours ago. :(
-
ACC I heard the same, that they pulled life support.
Very sad for her family.

Tony-award winning actress Natasha Richardson died Wednesday at the age of 45 in a New York City hospital.
Alan Nierob, publicist for Richardson's husband Liam Neeson, confirmed her death Wednesday night in a written statement.
"Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time," the statement said.
The statement did not give details on the cause of death for Richardson.
The actress had been transported back to New York City from Canada, where she suffered a head injury after falling on a beginners ski slope.
Sources close to Richardson told FOXNews.com on Tuesday that the actress was brain dead. Members of her family, including her mother, actress Vanessa Redgrave, her sister, actress Joely Richardson, and her two young sons were seen at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where she was taken.

How very sad. Prayers for the family.
-
Very sad. Life is fleeting. Hug your family.
-
God rest her soul. :( Prayers sent for her and her family.
-
Prayers for her family, Liam and their sons. Liam and the sons are devout Catholics from what I understand. Their faith will sustain them.
-
Thats a shame. Can't say I ever saw any of her work.
I saw the Handmaid's Tale, but I can't remember any of it. I also saw the Parent Trap remake.
-
Sad news. I feel for the family.

From what I heard, from bits and pieces on the news, she developed a subdural hematoma or an epidural hemitoma..both VERY treatable. Too bad this didn't occur in the US, where she would have been airlifted to a trauma hospital and her life saved.
Not saying this has anything to do with universal healthcare in Canada and not trying to make this political...but working in a trauma hospital for the past 20 years and doing CT's on patients with this type of bleed, I know of NO ONE who has died as a result of these types of brain bleeds.
This is very, very sad indeed.

She refused a trip to the hospital on the first visit by the paramedics. I assume by the time she did go to the hospital it was too late.

Wow, that's scary. I nearly did the same thing after a motorcycle accident... the EMS talked me into going to the hospital.

Well, that's a shame then.

That's why you don't mess around with head injuries of any kind no matter how minor they seem or how you feel.

YeaH. The American Spectator has an article today that claims the delay in treatment may have well cost her her life. They blame socialized medicine in Canada for it, all head and neck injuries have to be checked asap out to be sure.
My prayers are with her family and friends. I think she made a perfect Patty Hearst. RIP.

Anti-gay church plans protest of Richardson funeral (http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/article/20090321/NEWS01/903210328&referrer=FRONTPAGECAROUSEL)

MILLBROOK — Members of the Topeka, Kan.-based baptist church said they are coming to Millbrook Sunday to protest Natasha Richardson's funeral.
On it's Web site, Westboro Baptist Church said it plans to protest at St. Joseph's Church because Richardson supported research for a cure for AIDS. The small Kansas church has protested schools, colleges, churches, funerals and other venues.

Prayers go out to her family and friends. I have a very dear friend who survived a head injury from a car accident her senior year in high school. Dallas Fire-Rescue rushed her to Parkland trauma and the doctors there did a hero's job. Saved her life but she is confined to a wheelchair and needs basically round-the-clock care to this day. Head injuries are nothing to play around with.

:(
Ugh. They are vile.
Richardson's father died of AIDS. That's why she was so close to the cause.
-
I am no fan of hollywood or most actors, but this is still a shame. RIP.
:(
The Westboro Baptist Church and its members. Sick bastards. All of them.

They just need to be ignored by all media. They crave attention.

Michael Crook wrote a vile blog about Richardson too. He's an admirer of WBC. WBC should be eradicated from the planet.
