Title: Waxing Law: Hairy Situation in New Jersey
Post by: bijou on March 13, 2009, 07:22:04 PM
Quote
A growing controversy could lead to a hairy situation in New Jersey.
The Brazilian wax could be ripped from salons if a proposed ban on genital waxing is passed by N.J.’s Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling.

So, you may have to cover up "down the shore" this summer.

N.J. law is a bit fuzzy when it comes to the hair down there, but according to the state, genital waxing is illegal.  Only the face, neck, abdomen, legs and arms of patrons can be stripped, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Who knew? Apparently not many salon owners...

Still, beauty schools teach the procedure and most salons offer it to clients who want to bare all.

So, why would the wax get cut now? Two women filed complaints with the board after being hospitalized due to their hair-ridding sessions. One even sued, Jeff Lamm of the N.J. Division of Consumer Affairs told the paper.

I'm sure supporters of this procedure will be able to wax eloquent in its defence.

I suppose passage of that law was by a close shave.   :-)

It seems that it is thought to be dangerous after those two women were hospitalised. Stupid to ban it though, when wax is outlawed ...

I read in Maxim that less than 2 percent of women go "au natural".  Yeah, I know, nobody actually READS Maxim, but it was in the shop one day, so I thumbed through it, and there it was...

They (female respondents) also said they like guys to trim up below.  Go figure.

I'm sure that the female respondents were limited to the thong models who were looking for their own photo spreads in Maxim, I really can't imagine why any other woman would open a copy (or any man who could find anything else to read on the crapper, including Farm Show or The Weekly Trader).  Personally I prefer the natural look, I find the shaved thing uncomfortably pedo.  Or just stupid-looking in the case of the 'Lower Mohawk' or 'Landing Strip' look.

Awesome, I'm in the minority!

Seriously though, who did Maxim include in the poll,  models or normal women   ::)

Let's see, pouring hot wax on your neither regions, ripping out the hair, having a stranger do it for you....hmmm...no wonder it should be illegal.  :rotf:  There are kinder, gentler ways to keep the garden groomed. I have also never understood farming that task out to a salon worker.

I'm with ya on the shaved thing, but hirutse?  No thanks, either.  Kinda reminds me of those old Madonna photos.  Yuck.

Any more descriptive and we'd have to move this to the Short Bus.

I'm partial to a smooth road myself.....driving thru the bush tends to scratch up your vehicle.

Well, that would certainly redefine the term bush-hog, now wouldn't it?
