I've posted here before about how much I love my
Prius, but last week it went through the ultimate test.
I had to drive 90 miles to Lansing and back in the teeth of the
worst blizzard in memory.
The road crews had given up by the time we hit the road home,
and it was one lane of blowing snow at 1:30 in the morning.
when I exited for gas, I had to plow thru a 2 foot snow bank
the plows had left behind.
By the time we got to my hometown, we were blasting thru
snowbanks high enough to burst over the windshield and
temporarily blind us. I've never seen anything like it, and
I've lived in Michigan all my life, including 15 years
on emergency crews. I couldn't stop because I knew that
would be the end.
But little Prius just kept truckin' and trackin - I'm confident
now that I can take this little baby anywhere.

I'd like to see him take that little thing over the backroads off a Schnebly Hill Road close to Flagstaff where I saw a Jeep Wrangler get stuck in a trench in the road before. Something tells me this DUer would be sleeping with the bears for the night.

Yeah, well, I had a '64 VW Beetle back in the day and I used to take it out in the woods all the time. I could even ford shallow creeks with it if I got a running start because it would just sort of hydroplane across the top like skipping a stone on water. :-)
Doesn't mean I wanted to live with it the rest of my life, though.

Sounds like a Prius is a necessity .... they shouldn't be allowed to charge $$$ for something this needed. They should start with giving them to the poor and work their way up to the rest of us. :whatever:

I saw something on the Barking Moonbat Early Warning System blog that indicated that the traction control on a Prius goes out when the electric motor is engaged and the Prius is going uphill in cold temps, thus leaving the driver in a rather precarious position . . .

Just think how bad that snow would've been if everyone drove a Prius. You clowns should be thanking us for "warming up the planet" with our SUVs!

A friend of mine has a Prius and he'll tell you that is absolutely true. He can barely get up small hills and has been left stranded on larger hills while gas guzzling rear drive cars go up past him.
I'm going to call BS on the entire OP based on his experiance with small snow squalls.
