"PHOENIX — Federal authorities have told a high-profile Arizona sheriff that they will investigate his department over allegations of discriminatory practices and unconstitutional searches and seizures.
The U.S. Justice Department said in a letter delivered Tuesday to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio that the investigation will focus on alleged patterns of discrimination based on a person's national origin.
Arpaio told The Associated Press that he will cooperate with the Justice Department.
Arpaio, who describes himself as "America's Toughest Sheriff" and is best known for feeding jail inmates green bologna sandwiches, clothing them in pink underwear, and making them work on chain gangs, received praise for his anti-immigration efforts from many who believe the federal government isn't doing enough to remove people in the U.S. illegally." I'm beginning to wonder if we wouldn't have been better off with the last immigration bill that didn't pass. Lord knows how bad the one that 0Bama and his Party will pass.

Hi,
I am in AZ for a couple of weeks. From what I gather, locally they took a poll and 75% of those in the area really approve of Sheriff Joe and what he is doing.
On Tuesday night we had dinner in Tombstone and the waitress was married to a border patrol agent. She said a couple of very interesting things. She said they start at something like $65,000 and many are worried that if they truly shut down the border they will be out of work. Hey, as a taxpayer, that is one more reason to build the damn fence.
Second she said that her husband will catch around 25 illegals a day. I said that I was not concerned about how many Mexicans he caught, I want to know how many muslims he catches. She rolled her eyes and said that the public would not believe the number of muslims and Chinese they catch and what kind of stuff they are trying to bring into the country. Now that scared me.
We got stopped by the border patrol as we headed back to Tucson and it did not bother us a bit. They were big boys, well armed and had German shepherds. I know there is such a thing as drug dogs, I wonder if they can train them to sniff Mexicans in trunks and hidden spots in cars and trucks......
Also read today where ACORN is going after him. What the hell is this country coming to anyway???

I am concerned about the number of illegal mexicans that her husband catches.
They are are helping to bankrupt the country.

I've voted for Sheriff Joe in four elections now. And I'll continue to vote for him as long as he runs.
There's a reason he wins handily every election--people like it when laws are enforced. He enforces them. And he riles up the media like nobody else which always wins favor with me.
