Hersh creates a fairy tale based on some reality (Adm. McRaven did order a two week standdown of some JSOC operations last month) and a whole bunch of BS (everything else). Apparently he is incapable of figuring out the relationship between JSOC, USSOCOM, the Joint Chiefs, the Office of the President, CIA, SecDef, Congress, etc. But, as always, secret, black, nebulous, incredibly unlikely military units are out performing all sort of nefarious deeds in the Land of DUmmies:

He was investigating money laundering operations tied to the Florida Department of Transportation and drug trafficking. Cheney was probably just protecting Jeb Bush.

Consider the strange deaths of Bruce Ivins, Hunter S Thompson, Jean Palfrey, Paul Wellstone, Dr David Kelly, and not forgetting the attempted (anthrax) murders of Patrick Leahy and Tom Daschle.
It's common knowledge that Cheney was on Jean Palfrey's list of 'clients'.

It's always funny to me how the conspiracy theorists envision highly trained elite troops commiting mundane "assassinations" on ordinary people on an almost daily level. And these troops never talk. If they ever sent a Seal Team after Hersh, his body would never be found and no evidence of his disappearance would exist.
