Democrat to Introduce Freedom of Choice Act ‘Sooner Rather Than Later’

CNSNews.com) – A spokesman for Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said that while re-introducing the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) during the 111th Congress isn’t on his “immediate agenda,” the congressman does plan to do so “sooner rather than later.”

“It’s not going to be (re-introduced) years down the road,” Ilan Kayatsky told CNSNews.com.

He said the bill has not been drafted yet, but it most likely would resemble the original bill that Nadler introduced in the 108th and 110th Congresses. “(The bill) could be altered in very minor ways,” Kayatsky said. “But overall it would be the same bill.”

FOCA, which was sponsored twice in the Senate by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), would eliminate state and federal restrictions on abortion, including waiting periods, parental consent, and the ban on partial-birth abortion.

*snip*

“In return, enactment of the Freedom of Choice Act by a pro-abortion Congress (which we currently have) and a pro-abortion President would lead to the biggest payoff in history for those who profit from abortions.”

Say bye-bye to State's rights.   :banghead:

I believe that this is the reason that a number of states are passing "sovereignty" statutes.......to set this monster up for court challenges that will tie it up for decades......

Quote
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has launched both a postcard campaign and an email campaign, urging members of Congress to maintain pro-life policies and to oppose the federal funding and promotion of abortion.

The e-mails specifically urge senators and representative to "please oppose FOCA or any similar measure" and "retain existing laws against funding and promotion of abortion."

I think it's time that the Catholic Church enforce their own doctrine on their members, ex-communicate any and all that vote for this bill and that support killing babies.  These  :censored: dimrats want to force their belief and ideology on everyone else, eff them and see how they like it.

I think that many Catholic Hospital workers are worried. Isn't this the same bill that would force all hospitals to provide baby killing services, along with forcing pharmacists to dispense prescriptions against their religious beliefs?

It seems to me, that this law would violate that "separation of church and state" that the left loves to howl about.  It's forcing the religion of secular humanism upon everyone.

No law can force Christians to perform abortions. No law can force Christians to not minister to those in need.

Time for some civil disobedience. Are the feds really willing to put tens of thousands of Christians in jail?

Yes, they are.

They've already put tens of thousands of gun owners in jail for violating blatantly unconstitutional firearms laws.

Tens of thousands of gun owners? Are you sure?

In any case, I suspect Christian health care workers would receive more sympathy from the public than gun owners. I don't think the federal government could handle the public relations fallout. The laws would be changed mighty quick.

But not to worry. The Christians will cave.

Don't be so sure--especially on this issue. When murder becomes a civil right, we're well and truly screwed. I think that is where Christians of all backgrounds--from Catholics to Fundamentalists, would come together.

Except for those that are democrats.

This crap - along with crap like THIS (http://blogs.courant.com/capitol_watch/2009/03/catholic-church.html) - is the kind of stuff that is going to galvanize the Christian community - one way or the other.  Christians in America who fail to stand together now - regardless of the individual sect of those standing with you - in the face of onslaughts such as this crap, are looking at 20-30 hard years of ChiCom-style persecution at the hands of our comrades on the left.

Once every couple of months I sell someone "Plan B"

It does not bother me to do so.

That is your right.  But a man that does not wish to sell Plan B should not be forced to, nor should the rest of us stand for the government forcing him.  He can still be a pharmacist and choose not to sell a drug that reasonably violates his belief.  The customer can always come buy it from you.
