Meghan McCain on Coulter: 'offensive' and 'insulting'

Michael Calderone Michael Calderone – Mon Mar 9, 1:46 pm ET

Meghan McCain gets off the topic of dating today on The Daily Beast, instead taking shots at Ann Coulter and her role in the Republican Party. The senator's daughter calls Coulter "offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing all at the same time."

I am not suggesting that extreme conservatism wasn’t once popular, nor am I suggesting I should in any way be any kind of voice for the party. I have been a Republican for less than a year. Still, even after losing the election, I find myself more drawn to GOP ideals and wanting to fight for the party’s resurgence. And if figureheads like Ann Coulter are turning me off, then they are definitely turning off other members of my generation as well. She does appeal to the most extreme members of the Republican Party — but they are dying off, becoming less and less relevant to the party structure as a whole.
McCain said she'll be in New York tonight for Coulter's debate with Bill Maher. Will Coulter respond on stage?
so - where do you stand?

Sounds to me like Meghan McLame is just as much a blue blood, limp dick, surrender monkey of a RINO as her dad has been since he entered politics.

She's not bad looking, either.

That being said. I like Ann Coulter. I don't always agree with her , but I like her because she seems to know the right buttons to push to cause the moonbats to go into raving fits.

Ann Coulter is most often correct in her opinions. She can be a bit abrasive, but I enjoy reading what she has to say. That she twists the libtards into knots endears her to me, although I'm not a fan of ad hominem attacks. There is much worse on the left. Just look at how the "respected" pundits went after the Bush administration.

I didn't vote, because "indifferent" doesn't cover the above sentiment. I'd have voted "Joooooooooooos," I guess.

Hi,

Seems the good senator from AZ can't convince his wife to keep her mouth shut.  She says she has been a republican less than a year....well she has been an idiot longer than that.  It does not take a genius to realize that anyone who knocks any conservative will make major headlines and be broadcast from the highest mountains, just like her idiot husband when he did more to hurt the Bush presidency in the early days that half the libs.

For those of you who say you do not like Coulter, I would like you to consider something.  When the libs were in the minority (recall that brief period of time), they did everything they could to keep the majority party honest, scream, hollar, yell, fight, whatever.....and in a lot of cases they never let the facts or truth get in the way of slamming Bush.

Have any of you ever wished the Republicans would learn how to fight back?  Have any of you secretly admired the way some of the libs stand up for what they believe in, regardless of how stupid they are?  Let me tell you what I feel the biggest things Coulter is doing for the Repbulican party.  She has a way of making some of the libs stuff absurd.  I am currently in the middle of her current book and will offer a book report when I finish.  Second she is fighting back....and showing us how to do it.  I wish some of the politicians would learn from her and start raising hell.  If they don't, we are going to get a lot of lousy crap stuffed down our throats.

You know sometimes timid folks have to be given permission to be loud, abrasive, confrontational as opposed to passive.  I think folks like Hannity, Coulter and Limbaugh have emboldened a whole lot of us who never spoke up loud or often before we realized it was OK.

Let's face it, the libs have dozens of abrasive Ann Coulters, start with John Kerry knocking Bush, and I could type all day with names.  It is about time we gave them some of their own medicine.

regards,
5412

The fact that you find her offensive only highlights your discomfort with the truth.

Yeah, the little airhead was on Fox this morning.  Apparently she sees herself, after one year as a Republican, as some sort of standard-bearer.  In fact she is a child of privilege, whose associates are also children of privilege, coddled little creatures who probably do not have any personal friends who served or are serving as enlisted military personnel, who do not own guns, who have no idea what 'NASCAR' is, and who would not get 'Red State Update' at all.  They're younger versions of the same idiots who did so much to turn the GOP into 'Dem-Lite' and blow any chance of winning the last election by lining up behind her Dad, a candidate with virtually no charisma or appeal to the party base.  She, her father, and their like are what I refer to as 'Fiscal conservatives,' since the only thing they have in common with the vast majority of the people who actually vote GOP is that they don't want to see their money (well, trust funds in their case) go down a welfare rat-hole, aside from that they are basically more liberal than Blue Dog Democrats.

Not only that, but she believes the republican party should stray away from "conservative values" and become more moderate.  How did that work out for her father?

She also bashed CPAC and Rush in a backhanded kind of way.  She really believes she has the power to turn the republicans into moderate democrats ...I suppose her father losing the presidency because he wasnt' conservative enough wasn't enough of a clue for her.
Rachel Maddow had an ear to ear grin listening to her stomp on conservatives...or maybe she was looking at her cleavage..I don't know.

She needs to take a large behind back to her polo games and stay off the national politics stage.

She MIGHT come across as half way credible if she had been on the scene as a political correspondent or something along those lines.  As it stands though, she only comes across as a disgruntled young woman who feels her dad (and perhaps by proxy she as well) was cheated out of something he was "due" or "deserved".  Neither of which is true.  You know the McCains are a perfect example of what happens to your arse if you sit on the fence for too long.   :-)

As far as Coulter is concerned.  I like the woman.  She is extremely intelligent and has wit to match.  She has an innate ability to drive her point home so far it comes out her opponent's ass.  She can be brash she honestly she is only putting to words what most of American feels or thinks about some of these left winger nutjobs like Olberman, et al.   I find it interesting that if a man talks as she does he is strong and speaking plainly.  If a woman speaks as she does she is a bitch or she is over the top.  Do I think she can take a point too far?  Absolutely but then again, we call can.  And I haven't seen her do anything beyond what has been done by those she stands up to.

*shrug*

I love Ann Coulter, she's smart, funny, articulate, pisses off the left, pisses off RINO's and those who take themselves too seriously.  She has way more balls then most Republicans.

You really can't compromise with the truth.  Many Republicans think you can and Ann doesn't.

Compromise and moderation have allowed someone as radical as The Big L'oeuf to steal the image of Lincoln and Reagan while being to the left of Pol Pot.

Reagan thought we could beat the Soviets and end the Cold War and then did.

Modern day Republicans don't think we can beat back socialism and enviro-wacktivism but can maybe slow it down and then can't and even get steamrollered by it and then blame people who don't compromise like Ann and Rush.

Being steamrollered doesn't come from a position of strength but of weakness.  The Ann and Rush haters who claim to be Republicans need to blame their own inner weakness and lack of core instead of those who stand up and have a spine.  I think we can call this spine envy.

By definition, moderates lack a spine or else they wouldn't be moderate, they would believe in something and stand for it.  They can't, they wont and they don't so they hate those who do.  Their position makes no sense.

Laura Ingraham Labels Meghan McCain 'Plus-Sized' (Audio)
By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Meghan McCain © Getty ImagesMeghan McCain has been making lots of enemies within the Republican Party. And Laura Ingraham certainly counts as one of them.

McCain, the 24-year-old daughter of former presidential candidate John McCain, grabbed headlines this week for taking on conservative author Ann Coulter, who McCain described as "offensive."

She kept up the attacks in a discussion with Rachel Maddow, when she intimated that Coulter’s comments make it difficult for the Republicans to court younger voters.

Well, none of this pleases radio host Laura Ingraham, who yesterday employed a Valley-girl voice to describe the 24-year-old McCain as "plus-sized." Here’s the transcript, via Think Progress:

OK, Meghan. Do you think that anyone would be talking to you if you weren’t kind of cute and you weren’t the daughter of John McCain? Or do you just think that they would just think that you were just another Valley girl gone awry?

…

OK, I was really hoping that I was going to get that role in the Real World, but then I realized that, well, they don’t like plus-sized models. They only like the women who look a certain way.

 :rotf:  Go Laura!

Last week, Ingraham mocked McCain on her radio show after the daughter of former GOP presidential nominee John McCain urged Republicans to seek compromise with Democrats. Ingraham called McCain “a Valley Girl gone awry” and a “plus-sized model.”

McCain, who writes about politics and her personal life for The Daily Beast, went on The View on Monday to fight back.
