Gunman Kills Five at City Council Meeting, Shot Dead by Police

KIRKWOOD, Mo. — Two police officers were among five people shot and killed Thursday night by a gunman who opened fire at a city council meeting in this St. Louis suburb, police said.
A total of seven people were shot, including the mayor and several city officials, before police shot and killed the gunman, though it is unclear which officials are among the dead.
The gunman was identified as Charles Lee "Cookie" Thornton a St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter who was attending the meeting.

There was a store owner in a small town here that killed himself in FRONT of the Council because they refused to re-zone his business.

worse part is.. this guy's brother is sitting here trying to make the rounds and saying the deaths were "justified".. Ironically, according to one of my co-workers, the CNN anchor literally cut him off in themiddle of an interview and said "enough is enough with this garbage".
Meanwhile the st. louis tv media around here is trying to make him out to be this nicey-nice guy (and made me sick to my stomach last night and this morning), and even defending while the radio hosts on every station, so far are blasting the brother and the shooter...
