Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.
British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.
But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.
Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.
A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

Perhaps he needs a vacation. :whatever:
-
This is not the job I thought I knew.
-
If he had any executive experience he would have realized that being prez is more than just basketball and crackberry, cocktail parties and campaigning for a job he was already given.
What a miserable failure he is.
Not surprizing in any way or course.

This is not the job I thought I knew.
Can one throw the Presidency under a bus?
-
7 weeks of late night Air Force One flights, plenty of good lick-her and $100 a pound steaks ..... sheeesh, that'll wear down 'bout any party animal.
-
And they said Bush took too many vacations.
-
How utterly pathetic. :whatever:
-
Nevermind the worst attack this nation had ever seen on it's soil. Nope, that wasn't to hard to handle. :whatever:
-
and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.
I loved that part. You'd think that if he'd maybe spent more then a couple months (cumalitive) in Congress, he might have had an idea of what it's really like.

Anyone know if DU has this article posted yet?

Chain smoking again?
-
Barry needs to pour himself a cup of coffee and STFU.
-
Maybe the strain will be more than he can bear and he'll do us all a favor and terminate himself......I mean quit.
-
the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk
Oh FFS, someone might want to break it to him that he can't screw off like he did in the Senate. :thatsright:
-
Invest in a coffee maker and some caffeine pills and get your ass back to work.

Aw, hell, he's the prez now, who's gonna give him a piss test if he decides on some speed or coke?

ease up, its his first real job...
we are so ****ed....

ease up, its his first real job...
yaknow, you're right. I remember coming home from my first job tired as hell more days than not. Then again, I wasn't leader of the free world, I was a bagger at a grocery store

Dear B. Hussein,
Tired? Try one of these:

Now get back to work and quit ****ing up everything you touch, numbnuts.

actually, given his record when he does anything, 0, take all the time you want...
-
great.... it wasn't bad enough that he and his administration screwed up the protocol and gifts for the prime minister of Great Britain....
now...he publicly whines about how tired and overworked he is.....
I'm soooo embarassed...

well, really, we don't have much reason to be embarassed unless we voted for him... oh, sorry mia
-
Good God what a blat ass.
-
Think about what this means really....this man has not surrounded himself with anyone that understands the normal courses of action regarding the Presidency.
In this case it is sort of an innocuous failure of protocol but probably no real harm done.
What happens if/when Putin decides to send the Russian army somewhere or Kim in North Korea launches a salvo over the heads of the South?
What can we expect from the staff that is supposed to be up on the intricate details of these things and advising the President on an official course?
Will they look at each other and decide to send out for pizza?
Will O go before the cameras and say..."uhhhh,I really didn`t...uhmmm..expect this and I ..uhhhhhh....have my staff...uh....starting to look into.....uhhhhhh...what maybe we should......uhmmm do.
Understand..uh...how tough....uhhhh this job....uhmmm actually is."?

I can't help but wonder if this is the beginning of a revolt in the 0bama administration. You can't throw people under the bus forever without it coming back to bite you.
God, we are so screwed.
-
Big freakin baby. Suck it up and drive on. Perhaps things wouldn't be so stressful if you weren't trying to remake America in Karl Marx image overnight. Governing from the center doesn't seem to look so bad now does it... whiner.

2 months and the excuses have started.

I think the reason he's so tired, is it takes too long for people to tell him how to respond, os instead of just making a freaking decision, he has to deal with committee after committee to answer the simple quesitons, like which ti to wear. He has no personla convictions, so he can't make any decisions without getting feedback from others first.

Slick Willie also operated that way while in the Oval Orifice. He'd call in panels of experts to go over issues ad nauseum, then he'd "mull" on them for months before making a decision - that is, IF he had to make a decision.
Most of the time, he was more interested in Monica's opinions on the subjects in question.

Can one throw the Presidency under a bus?
We can sure as hell try.
-
I didn't realize until this morning just how bad he did screw this up. No joint press conference, no official dinner, no British Flag, boxed DVD for a gift and Michelle giving toy helicopters from the gift shop. Even worse, telling Brown to take the bust of Winston Churchill back to England. Brown explained it was a gift to America after 9/11, the Messiah still sent it back.
Brown gave Obama a pen set made from HMS Resolute, the same ship Roosevelt's desk was made from, and the same ship the US freed from the ice and returned to England. Yes, a very symbolic gift. The Obama children received clothing made by a top designer in England.
The British press is in a fury over this, rightly so. Meanwhile, the Messiah shrugs, and makes excuses. Wonder what other major alliances he will be able to screw up?
But he'll forge new ones, Venezuela, Iran, etc. We are so screwed!
-
You just know that the entire Bush family is privately laughing their a$$es off.
-
To make matters WORSE (if at all possible) the disc/movies WILL NOT PLAY of Brit. machines! WORSE STILL, aMERICAN MACHINERY, WHICH HE WAS NOT GIVEN, USES A different volt/amp than OOURS, SO HE'D NEED A VOLTAGE rectifier too!
Sweet Jesus, please reveal yourself and tell us if there is anyone less qualified for the Presidency? Why does HILLARY seem as if she'd be a Jefferson, by comparison?
-
You just know that the entire Bush family is privately laughing their a$$es off.
I don't. I actually think they have too much grace and class for that. Now if they're doing a facepalm and shaking their heads, THAT I could see....

Note I said privately. Publicly they would say nothing at all....just smile a bit.

Exactly. :-)

Can't he just vote "present" when the PM of our best ally comes to town?
