Title: Mayor is criticized for White House watermelon patch e-mail
Post by: thundley4 on February 25, 2009, 10:54:38 AM
"LOS ALAMITOS - The mayor has sent an apology for an e-mail sent to a local businesswoman and community volunteer that she says is racist and offensive.
Keyanus Price, an African American, said she was appalled when she received an e-mail from Mayor Dean Grose's personal account that showed a picture of the White House with a watermelon patch imposed as the White House garden.
"I was horrified when I read that e-mail," Price said. "What I'm concerned about is how can this person send an e-mail out like this and think it is OK?"
Being a public official, Price said, made the matter worse.
"He's putting the city into a bad place, and he is a liability," Price wrote in an e-mail." OC Register (http://www.ocregister.com/articles/mail-price-public-2317355-apology-people)

I don't know what that woman is talking about. I think a watermelon patch on the South Lawn (gotta leave room for Marine One, though) looks lovely.

And think of how many of those new czars Michelle will be able to feed! Golly!

I wonder how she'd feel about the spinning rims on Air Force One?

Anyone here live near D.C.?

Go to Home Depot or Lowes, or any nursery for that matter, get a 5 pound bag of seeds to grow watermelons, walk up to the fence surrounding the white house, and toss the seeds as far inside the grounds as you can.  Imagine the shocked look on the faces when watermelons begin growing there.

How many folks remember the tales about there being a veggie garden on the white house grounds?  Then there was the sheep which were tethered there to keep the grass short.

That won't work because they mow at least once a week. That would kill any errant sprouts.

not to mention the fact that you'd be pounced on the moment you stretched out your arm. That is nothing to even joke about.

The stretched out arm, like in how the germans saluted Adolph Hitler?

I dunno.  The way they've been spreading the fertilizer around there, it just might work.

Those plans were scrapped when Hillary lost the nomination.
