Title: Burn In Hell Circuit City!
Post by: asdf2231 on February 25, 2009, 12:27:18 AM
Hey Circuit City.

Remember ME?

It was three years ago that you lured me into standing in sub zero temps with a couple hundred people for hours. Laptops you said. Black Friday only! Super low price. So I got up at 4am and drove through the dark and stood in line.

And waited. And waited. Having to pee the whole time so bad I thought I was going to die. The doors opened and the crowd surged ahead and my aching bladder and the chill blains were forgotten with the promise of an inexpensive entry level laptop to replace my aged and inadequate 3rd hand Dell.

But funny thing Circuit City... You never mentioned ANYWHERE (and I know because I checked after driving home) that it was a limited quantity, first come first served item. You never mentioned that you only had 25 of the ****ing things to sell. SO I'm standing there in what looked like the last 10 minutes of Dawn Of The Dead with shrieking shoppers mauling each other over electronics while some hapless 19 year old jackass stammers and can't tell me why the words "limited quantity, first come first served" never appeared in your GIANT FREAKING COME HITHER WHORE OF AN AD. And then when I waded through the carnage to try to relieve my bladder which was throbbing like a bass drum YOU HAD YOUR ONLY FRICKING BATHROOM CLOSED. For "service".  :whatever:

So I drove home in the inky pre-dawn cold with the bitter ashes of defeat in my mouth after taking a retaliatory piss against your stupid blue dumpster. And I waited. And watched.

And today what do you think I saw when I went into town to buy a digital camera?

YOU!

Festooned with "60% off going out of business everything must go" signs, looking like the downtrodden and played out slattern you are.  You had signs up trying to sell people your FIXTURES you're so broke dick.  :evillaugh:  I walked into your echoing, picked over carcass and snickered to myself at your mostly empty shelves and the satisfying remnants of all the crap that you were unable to foist on your unsuspecting victims.

I picked through the wretched remnants of your DVD racks and you know what Circuit City?  I passed up the 50% off you were offering on a boxed set of The Unit Season 2 and went across the street and paid your mortal foe Best Buy full price for it as a final **** you. Because I hate you so much I was willing to pay full price rather than to give you half of that after you lured me out in the frigid dark and left me hanging with a full bladder and no new lap top.

Rest in pieces you bastids.

I wonder if the CompUSA down in Cool Springs has closed up shop yet.  I could score on some new hard drives if they're still hanging on.

I never liked Circuit City to begin with.  Product selection was BLAH!  Also, never had enough employees in the damn place to get questions answered when I was looking at flat-screens.  Thanks to that, Best Buy got my family's business when my dad purchased and had Best Buy ship the lovely little Toshiba currently perched on my desk straight to my UPS mailing address.

The "sales" weren't all that good.  At the lowest point you could still get things cheaper at amazon.com.

And, yes CC can rot in hell.  Hopefully followed by GM.

Amazon has some new Premium Buyer club or something like that.  Free shipping if you sign up for their email list.  I don't remember if I'm on it, but Glenn Reynolds likes it.

Those going out of business sales that CC is doing are some percentage off of MSRP!!! Don't be mislead. Most Best Buy sales are WAY better.  I'm regretting buying a printer from them. It's a Lexmark wireless all in one. The printer works like a charm but the dumbass CC salesperson neglected to tell that the refill cartridges were only available at CC........  :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

(Lexmark started supplying them to ex CC customers through the Lexmark website)

Lexmark printers are awful -- they're made to be disposable.  When I used to work for Hewlett-Packard, I found out that Lexmark will "create" a printer model during each production run.  Once the production/manufacturing run is done, they will discontinue that model so they no longer have to provide service for it.  I had to fix my aunt's "free" Lexmark becuase the cartridge carrier kept slamming into the side of the printer chassis.  Turns out, it was an optical mylar strip behind the print head/unit that had come loose and the print head could no longer tell when to stop moving and was hitting the side of the printer.  Pushing the mylar strip back into place fixed the problem.

Other than the cost of ink and the nag screens I get because I had the Lexmark cartridge refilled at Walgreens, it's a dandy printer/scanner/ copier. Besides, it met my budget category and is wireless, to boot.

I can blow your electronic purchase out of the water big time.

I purchased a Samsung TV for $2k and a Frig for around $1k on credit (0% for 12 months from Conn's. Decided I did not like the TV so I had them come pick it up. Re stocking fee of 15% whacked me for around $400. Tried to work out a deal to buy another TV from them and have them waive that fee. Manager said he might be able to do that. I told him might is not worth a crap; I need to know. Got piss$d and went and bought one from Circuit City.

I get my payment book and it has the TV included on the monthly payments. About the time my payment was due, Katrina whacked their home office in Houston. Divided up the payments on the frig and sent the payment to Dallas where they had set up a temp. office. I start getting late payment notices that I did not pay the $250 payments as agreed to on the contract. Spoke to the supervisor and was told I owed the amount on the contract plus would owe the interest since my payments were late. Wrote certified letters to the management staff without any response. I figured this was going to screw up my credit so I paid them off plus the $450 worth of interest.

Conn's located in TX is a bunch of friggin crooks. Talk about some evil thoughts that I wanted to do to that store. Good thing I do not know how to make a bomb.

Walgreens often has great coupons online or in the weekly sale add for the refills. Any where from $5 off to buy one refill, get one free. I was able to get TWO filled for $15.

Check www.micrecenter.com for all you computer and electronic needs. Great price, great selection, great customer service. I just bought a Sony Vaio laptop with an XP recovery disk (UPGRADE } plus a $100 mail in rebate. Total price, including shipping, before rebate, $826.

Another example.

Netgear Wireless G PCI Adaptor- Chain store price, $26
                                            Microcenter price, $14

Same exact adaptor.

There's a website out there which compares major source on TV's, DVD players, and other electronics.  Basically you put in what size tv, LCD, plasma, and maker, and it'll spit out who has it for what price.

Anyone know that site?

Oh, and Best Buy sucks donkey balls.

+1000 on BB

There's several sites that do that. Just run a Google search on anything for sale and they pop up in the results.

Really enjoyed the rant, asdf. Was almost poetic in its hostility!  :rotf:

Woulda been especially noteworthy had you been arrested for indecent exposure while taking that "retaliatory piss" against their dumpster. Sex offender status. Name and pic on the web for all to see.  :lmao:

I haven't laughed that hard all freakin' week. Thanks for a great rant.  :cheersmate:

Here's the problem with the Walgreen refill. Somehow, my printer has determined that the OEM cartridge was refilled with some ink other than from the factory. So, now, I get a couple of nag screens saying my cartridge is out of ORIGINAL ink and that it will violate the warranty. Then, it asks me if I want to order ink. Other than that, the refilled cartridge works just fine. I need to figure out how to make that crap go away.

Your telling me. I used to work for the bastards for three years. If you think getting jacked by them as a customer is bad try working for  them full time and then they decide that just because your in the National Guard its ok to still schedual you to come in and be at the worthless monthly meetings. Even when you give them two years worth of dates for your drill weekend they still want you to shwo up and pull a hissy fit if you say you can't. Then they work you day shift one day then night shift the next then back to days and when ever you work nights you have to help restock their store even if its not your dept and you live 35+ miles away. The store closes at 9 pm then they want you back at 7 am the next day to do what?????????? more stocking because the warehouse had just got another truck load of crap in. the cherry on top of the cake was at Christmas time of 96 they cut my full time hours down to 10 a week. They said If I wanted full time hours i had to be available to get them. I told them that I was hired to work the hours I was doing and that the managers knew about not only my Military duties but that I had school to go to on Friday nights so after the Christmas season came to a close and no resolution to the problem came I just walked on them. It took them almost a year to find someone to replace me for the wages they offered and with no bennies. I heard form some of my former co workers and customers that Best Buy lost business over my leaving them.  If your all interested in more stories about Best Buy and how bad they suck go to this link.

Wow, they are really trying to protect the OEM ink cartridges now.

I blame BIG INK.  :-)

Too bad you didn't bring this info to a lawyer shortly after it happened. That's a DIRECT violation of the Soldier's & Sailor's Relief Act. You would have had a substantial lawsuit.

If only. I could have had it made. Still the best revenge I got was about a year after I left there the district manage comes in and fires each and every Dept Manager and most of the senior managers for..................Giving away extended warrenties for free to get customers to buy stuff. Why they didn't call the cops and have them all arrested is beyond me.
