I think gator's shit-stirring slash-and-burn strategy to "liven up the site" and get new members has backfired bigtime this time. I don't think he expected that at all, pride goeth before a fall and all that. Oh, well, you reap what you sow. :-)
His bluster about CU still being better and it will still come out on top, and he knew what he was doing, yaddayaddayaddablahblahblah, is getting pretty desperate and pathetic this time around.
BTW, there was a large Paultard rally in ND, only ninety miles from me, on Monday, with Dr. Tard himself showing up to rule the cult meeting. And there were several letters in the paper in his favor, one even said it would be "unpatriotic" to vote for anyone else. :whatever: Guess they haven't got the memo yet that he ain't exactly knocking down walls in the primaries.

Being against CU was never the "focus". The "focus" was getting away from CU. While concentrating on that "focus", purposeful discussion occurs with CU being a natural subject (this thread included).

As cynical as I am and as bad as I think he would be for the country as regarding my own political beliefs, there is a part of me that would be celebrating if Obama got elected. To go from Jim Crow (Which was almost in almost my lifetime) to a black man elected President would surely be something grand.

I've debated with gator since 2005 on several sites and I've noticed that his debating tactic is very simple: first he presents his opinions as facts (which is his idea of spreading "moral clarity") and accuses those who don't share his views of being ignorant. He starts to rant and insult others when people don't accept his views as facts. He hides behind his little rants (to avoid answering questions and addressing issues) and runs away when he runs out of insults. That's a coward's debating tactic. Gator bans those who disagree with what he says because he's afraid of dissenters. He resorts to insults and rants because he thinks it gives the illusion that he has character. His true character shows when he's cornered in a debate. Those who have debated with him know what he does when he's cornered. He runs away, like a coward.

That's true. A site that merely focuses on one thing is basically just a club, not a political discussion forum.
Overall, a political discussion forum that tolerates dissenters will be a successful site. Is there a site that has banned more people than CU? (No) That's why CU is dying and this site is booming.

I knew it was bound to happen. You have the best of CU over here.... ACC, Rebel, Freeper, Undies, etc. Whereas over there, the crazies that made everybody leave still run the sinking ship.

Kharis is here, Bondai under a different name. She pops in here and there just as she did on CU. I'm glad to have her posting here in any fashion. She's a delight and shoots right from the hip, no matter what criticism may come.

I still check in and post some but it's pretty dead. About half Ronbots, a few Old Reliables keeping their hands in, and the same unbanned total assholes that convinced me to leave in the first place, plus of course S. Downings guerrilla war on Ron Paul continues. Aside from their poor reasoningn skills in candidate selection, some of the Ronbots are actually civil people and more desirable discussion partners than the assholes like LogansPapa, Feebmaster, and a couple of other Non Paul trolls. Hasn't been much sign of Gator for awhile though, at least in any of the forums I check.

That's right. My grandfather fought Russians in the Winter War. We didn't win the war, but we didn't lose either. We kept our indepence and that was a victory for us.

well, as the family story goes... my mom had two grandmother's she loved dearly; one was named Lauri.. the other was named Ann... so she put the names together and that's me. :-)

I was wondering the name because Lauri is a very popular name here in Finland (Lauri Törni, for instance) but apparently it's a popular name elsewhere as well. You learn something new every day...
