Title: Happy FAT Tuesday
Post by: Thor on February 24, 2009, 06:53:32 AM
Today is the last day of normalcy until Easter. What's on y'all's agenda for the day??

Tuesday.  Cold, again.

Need to run to Target for a couple things today, and drop by CVS to pick up my meds.  Going to check out a small gym near here to see if I can do a month to month membership, too.

Tried the Tiger Woods 2009 for the Wii yesterday...it's much tougher than the old versions...might need to practice while the kids are at school so I can beat my son!

Got some CD's to roll over.....gonna shop banks for the best deal....see how much they ain't paying.

2.4 % was the best offer yesterday.....WACHOVIA was less than 1% ....and a 5 year annuity at 4.10% was discussed at one place......think I may invest in CHEETOS.

Finished up a report this morning....temp's supposed to start warming up...it's sunny out!

Think I will make potato pancakes for dinner.....

M's supposed to be giving up cigarettes for Lent (hopefully permanently!!)....he went to Chattanooga today and is going back tomorrow ...I figure the Jeep will have enough smoke fumes to help him get through tomorrow... ::)

Oh my.  Lent starts tomorrow.

It's probably a good time for me to contemplate upon the best means of giving up cigarettes.

With 0bama's new tobacco taxes taking effect April 1, I want to be smoke-free by then, so I'm not funding 0bama's government.

I've been watching the news all morning. Holy Hell.

It's like watching a circus train stop so that the passengers can run a nuclear plant. :p

Missed a dental appointment and I have to do a bunch of stuff to get ready to go on vacation tomorrow. Meh.

My wife went down to NOLA on business and came back with like, 75 strands of those beads.

People must be really friendly down there to just give them away like that.

But he's a guy.

I don't think this guy knows what the beads are for.
He thought he was supposed to collect them.

Wow.  lol  Maybe he didn't get the hint while he was down there?!  haha   :thatsright:

Na AH!!!

My wife said they were for smiling at people!

She has a great smile and that's why she had nearly a hundred sets.

She also had a couple hundred one dollar bills. I'm not sure where those came from.

Oh and she had a wicked bad accident with a vaccuum cleaner down there that left marks all over her neck.

Always be suspicious of a city where you cannot bury the dead, because they float back up.

I can look past that if I drink enough absinthe and consume enough po boys ;)  haha

I have to take the ten-toe express over to the parts store for a new alternator.  At least my car is at work and not in the ghetto somewhere.  On a positive note, I found out what that squeaking was.  I could tell it wasn't a belt... I knew I was going to be replacing something with a bearing.  I'm just glad it wasn't something expensive.

My favorite part of my NOLA experience was a bar on St. Peter's Street called Tropical Isle. They had this drink called the "Hand Grenade." 16 oz., 90 proof, amazing.

I want to see "nip-ons".

Or, to paraphrase Lt. Lockhart from Full Metal Jacket, "Get me some good low-angle stuff. Don't make it too obvious, but I want to see fur and early morning dew."

Seriously, nothing going on here except work, work, and more work.  Three more days and a wakeup before I leave the frozen tundra for the frozen mountains.  Whee.

I had a nasty one for about a week right before X-Mas, but that's it.  Nah, the worst thing with me here is how dry it is.  I'm actually fighting nosebleeds because it's so dry and I don't have a humidifier in my hotel room.

Now I just have to figure out where to eat dinner tonight.  Strange to say it, but I'm sick and tired of eating out.  I can't wait to come into MY home, turn on MY stove, and cook MY own meal this weekend.  After I go grocery shopping, of course--nothing in the fridge right now.

I was never fond of the Checkers back in Atlanta, but the one down here seems to be of better quality... the burger tasted better than most other places around here that I go to frequently for burgers.  Plus, it wasn't oversized. It was perfect for the "late night munchies" as my pot-loving co-worker likes to say.  :lmao:

That's cool!  You'll have to start a thread and post some pictures.  Preferrably interior pictures.  I rode in a Kia Rio yesterday... the interior was awful.  Doubleplus awful, even.  My Kia Spectra's MSRP was only $4,000 more, but the interior was pretty nice for a cheap-o budget car.

I saw a thread on Jalopnik about how Nissan has de-valued the 370Z with the $80,000+ GT-R.  I don't get it.

The manual 370Z will go from 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds for around $30k. That is plenty fast enough for me. For 80 grand, you could buy a convertible and a coupe for the price of the GT-R. Maintenance costs on the GT-R are very expensive. Brake job is 5 grand.

I am told there is going to be a new Carl's Jr. just down the road from where I work.

This town needs something other then Casino Resturants and Fast/Quick Food. There are a couple of places but they are small and often packed. A Dodge delaership owner is buidling a new Italian Restuant with a jazz club, but that sounds pricey. The old bastards here wont spend any money.  :rotf:

That might be the only way a Dodge dealership will make any money.  I passed a Dodge-Chysler-Jeep dealer today with a lot full of cars.  I kinda felt bad for him because they all looked the same.  With the exception of the Mercedes-Benz/Daimler-Chrylser chassis on the 300, I didn't see anything worthwhile.

We only have two dealerships here, and I think the Dodge dealership does better. One of the owners also plays in a jazz band and is always doing stuff out in the community. Everyone knows him and everyone likes him.

I love the look of alot of the Chryslers, plus Jeeps are popular due to the desert, sand dunes, mountains & Death Valley being so close.

I also like the looks of alot of the GM vehicles.

I have chatted a little bit with a guy from the Chrysler dealership about employement, but things need to pick up first. I like my paid by the hour paycheck right now. But I do miss the boatloads of money I made in the car biz...the money is just not there right now.
