They need to seriously get some people in there to investigate that.  This just reeks of fraud.  He held the earlier election to get the idea of how much he needed to grease the wheels, and this time pushed it enough.

Hi,

46% voted against the amendment.  Next time there will be 100% vote for Chavez because 46% of the population will come down with some strange disease and be dead.

His comrades in the Senate have already floated the legislation.  I don't think it ever made it out of committee.

This highlights the fundamental flaw in the whole idea of spreading the light of democracy to the world.  In places where it has shallow roots, there is greater loyalty to a leader than to safeguarding the process and institutions of government, and people will all too often happily (and stupidly) let themselves be bribed into voting themselves right into enslavement to a dictator's whim.

I'm not God, and so am not saying this is what's going to happen, but--

Latin American dictators have a long long long history of waxing and waning in popular support, but then at what seems the moment of their greatest triumph and permanent establishment, something happens.

If I were concerned for Yugo, which I'm not, I'd advise him to watch his back.
