SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Raising fresh questions about his appointment to Congress, Sen. Roland Burris admitted in a document released Saturday that former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's brother asked him for campaign fundraising help before the governor named Burris as Illinois' junior senator.

The disclosure reflects a major omission from Burris' testimony in January when an Illinois House impeachment committee specifically asked if he had ever spoken to Robert Blagojevich or other aides to the now-deposed governor about the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama.

State Rep. Jim Durkin, the impeachment committee's ranking Republican, told The Associated Press that he and House Republican Leader Tom Cross will ask Sunday for an outside investigation into whether Burris perjured himself.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada also said he was reviewing the disclosure, the latest twist for Senate Democrats in Washington who only consented to seat Burris on the condition that there were no "pay to play" promises exchanged in the appointment.

State Rep. James Durkin (R-Western Springs) said Saturday that the Sangamon County state prosecutor‚s office will be asked to review Burris‚ Jan. 8 sworn testimony before the House panel to determine whether Burris (D-Ill.) perjured himself.

"I don't trust anything that comes out of Roland Burris‚ mouth or from his pen," Durkin said.

"We had a major league situation facing us. This is a United States senate seat that came under the most clouded of circumstances," Durkin said. "This is supposed to be about the year of reform this is about ethics and about transparency."

Durkin questioned why he found out about the additional testimony Friday night from the Sun-Times.

"Why were we kept out of the loop? Why were we kept out of the latest filing of Roland Burris?"

Now, when I quote to all the libtards that I work with about how yet another democrat was caught breaking the law, this time perjury, they will respond in the same way they always do. "All politicians are crooked." But when asked to give me examples of Repubs, they have a blank stare.

Most of the libs here were all touting how the big O was going to change everything for the better.  They even said he speaks better than Bush, so, I promptly reminded them of all the telepromter instances.  Now they somehow don't want to talk politics at work when it's "change you can believe in"... :whatever:
