While most of the nation focused on the stimulus bill winding through Congress, nine representatives introduced a bill calling for an end to the 46-year-old ban on travel to Cuba.
The Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on Feb. 4 would allow American citizens unrestricted travel to Cuba for the first time since 1963. The bill by Rep. William Delahunt, D-Mass., and eight co-sponsors would also lift limits on travel by Cuban exiles living in the United States. The president would not be able to regulate travel to the island unless an armed conflict or armed danger arises.

Many expect President Barack Obama to back a change in the policy. As a candidate for the presidency, Obama spoke in favor of reducing restrictions on remittances and travel to the island.
Co-sponsors to the bill include representatives Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., Sam Farr, D-Calif., and Ron Paul, R- Texas.

Cubans detest the Castro Brothers, and can't wait until that government fails. Tourism would support that Marxist outfit, so they're saying no. As they have since Fidel took power.
Just think how different the world would be if Castro had been signed with the Dodgers as he REALLY wanted......

I did not understand the "embargo" several presidents ago. In my opinion, it would be best to kill them with capitalism.
Since the embargo went on, president-after-president, including that communist jackass Carter, I assumed it had a purpose.
I'm still open to the idea. It will backfire on the idiot left. They still think Castro's Cuba is a model for all people.
I say let's see. Let's see when, if history holds - using the Cuba model for the citizens of the USA - when the USA was the last recourse for freedom throughout the world - the freedom from muslim animals who have no desire to share the world with leftist - the USA surrenders to communism. I don't think we will.

It's past time. Unpopular as it is with the Cuban expats, it is the best way to overcome the Castro Bros and their appeal to Cuban nationalism and their argument that America is against them so they need to stand together. For once the winning party did not depend on the Cuban expat vote in Florida for its victory and therefore owes them nothing. I've thought for a long time that if we ended the embargo and turned on the pent-up consumerism, we could own the place in six months (well, really it would take quite awhile, but you get the idea).
For forty years the Democrats couldn't do it because it was started by Saint Kennedy and the Republicans couldn't touch it because the Cuban expat vote was a bastion of their chances in Florida. It's time.

That was done under Clinton. The ChiComs now control both ends of the Panama Canal and their Army routinely uses what used to be Fort Clayton.

Actually, compared to many "artists" of today, he wasn't bad. Could have made a living. But his illusions of grandure showed thru even then. And he, apairently, did not take directions well.....
