I hauled the puppers outside this morning for her first walkies of the day and flt something that had been absent for the better part of four months.
A breath of warmth in the air. It is supposed to get up to 60 today and the breeze had just a hint of warmth mixed with that rich peaty smell of snow melt and old leaves. This has been a terribly trying winter and this is the first day I have stepped outside in the morning and actually felt a little hopefull that it might be passing soon. And it made me happy. :)
I have been cold since October. Usually I kind of revel in the coming of cooler weather, but this winter went right into my bones and kind of grumped there. We are going to San Diego for five days in a couple of weeks and I plan on doing a fair bit of sitting in the sun by the ocean.
My soul has frankly been crying out for a little sun and warmth, so today should be grand. My wife even moved stuff around so she could work out of the house and spend time with me today. :naughty:
Ya'know it's not that the past year has been bad per say, it's just been Gawdawful tedious.
Edited title to correct spelling...... yes, my OCD is rampant this morning... :o
-
It's supposed to get up to the high 60's or 70 today. It's such a greyt feeling. Yesterday was warm, but gloomy. Today the sun is out already. Yay!
The pups keep wanting to go out, but it's so muddy outside that I've been trying to limit it a bit. Xena has dug little trenches in the yard and they all like to run out and play in the mud. :-)
The grass is already starting to green up a bit. Spring is coming----it will be welcome.
-
I hate to dash your "Spring is in the air" euphoria, but it is February.
asdf will be snowed in at least twice more, and SLW, your pups will all end up sleeping on the bed with you guys at least twice.
Probably.
We're having temperatures in the 60s, clear skies with the sun out, the next few days.
And then snow starting Saturday.
I can't imagine it's going to be any better in Wisconsin; St. Louis, I dunno.

Good point BC!{even though i hate you for making it! :-)} Here in Jennys Enchanted Mitten it can snow well into april.

Went over my pre-employment checklist this morning with my potential employer. Things are looking fairly good at this point. (Knocks on wood) Insh Allah, I'll be working on helicopters, once again, within the next couple of weeks. :hyper:

It was 65 at 9:30 this morning and only supposed to hit 69....I think it will be higher.
Opened the porch door and the kitter-kats did their porch routine. Jaz goes out and checks to make sure it's safe for the others....Bailey follows, then Skyy and Cocoa lays on the back of the couch until she gets good and ready to go out. It never changes....it's always the same way first opening of the day. Strange thing is....Cocoa Puff is the alpha cat of the four....but not when it comes to going out on the porch.
Bushes are starting to bud....daffodils are coming up out of the ground. The wind is supposed to pick up this afternoon and severe thunderstorms and high winds are expected in tomorrow afternoon. M is going to Chattanooga and won't be home until evening tomorrow.....the Puffer and I will be hiding under a bed...we are both afraid of thunderstorms. :badmood: I know the thunder can't hurt me....but I've been scared of it all my life.
This weather keeps up and we will be turning the AC on soon.
Then it will snow in April....when we have "Dogwood Winter"....happens every couple of years...
-
Deb, the daffodils have been out for a couple of weeks here. Some trees have blooms on them. There are buds on others. :fuelfire:

That's then. For today it is gonna top 60 degrees and the sun is shining like a mad bastard out there. Our mailman was in shorts. :-)

I took my daughter to get her hair cut and colored yesterday. I had just had mine done last week and my hair chick said, "it looks like you need more blonde". I agreed and now I think she screwed up my hair. :bawl: I've had it mainly brown for awhile now and I'm just not use to the blonde streaks. I called her today and left a message that she needs to throw some more brown back in before thursday afternoon. I am going to Tulsa thursday after a visit to the ENT doctor for my tinnitus. I'm going to visit a friend and drive to AR with her for her daughters competition. She better call me back.
Other than that I'm just doing laundry. My life is BORING.
-
Blonde, eh?
Send the pics!

I have a huge section right in the front. It looks as though it's all blonde. I am not going to take a picture of it.

You could be having a really torrid daytime affair you know?
I bet we could get some guys to "volunteer".
So many men, so much time.
-
Today started off okay, but now it's crappy. That is all.
-
TOday is BLAH, for me also. I'm glad I don't have to go to work, but given this week is "test week" I'm feeling lousy. :(
Got two loads of laundry going. Hey, having access to 6 card-reader (for our student id cards to be swiped) washers and 6 dryers is nice. NO MORE QUARTERS! :yahoo:

Somedays when my laundry is overwhelming I consider taking it all to the laundromat and getting it all done at once. Then I snap back into reality and realize I don't want to haul it there and back.

Yeah. My apartment complex has a courtyard and the laundry building is in the center of it. Not a long walk at all, but given I have to haul a couple baskets up a long flight of stairs, that's where I hate it. :( I'm only taking care of clothes today. Sheets and towels will get their turn tomorrow.

I work a bunch of weekends. That's just to say that today and Mondays half day were my only days off this week. The weather in SW Ohio is warm but rainy.
None of the above is a complaint fwiw. I've been drinking beers since 10AM. :evillaugh:
Edit to add...
I'm watching The Last Dragon on YT. It's just that kind of day. :-)

Beautiful weather here today....74 degrees, mostly sunny - scattered clouds. Got the backhoe out and finished clearing the place for a new shop.
I expect more cold weather, this is what this past Monday morning looked like..... (crappy cell phone pic taken through truck window)....

I'll keep you and your work situation in my prayers hammer-man, if you can keep mine in yours. I got a follow up call from the regional HR lady for ENGlobal - the firm I interviewed with last week. She says they liked what they saw, but have been so busy putting out brush fires that they haven't been able to formalize a decision and offer. That should be forthcoming soon. I also have CDI Corp sniffing around, looking for hapless volunteers to go spend a few months designing pipe for a refinery in Qatar.
One way or the other, I should be employed in time to make my March mortgage payment at the end of the month.
-
By the way, they say we're expecting snow flurries (no accumulation) here this evening. I love it!
:cheersmate:
-
Just got home from buying a 32" Sony Bravia. It's not big, but is plenty big for the wife and I.
-
Def6, I will keep you in my prayers since good jobs are tough to find right now. Worst case, I have a fallback if I don't get the Avionics job. They requested MORE employment history :whatever: I'm like ****...... don't these folks know WTF a Navy Avionics Tech (O level) does??
-
I got my tax refund today! I'm off to buy my iPod shuffle after work. Oh, happy day!

Off to stimulate the economy, you mean?

You need to get a copy of Jim's Journals. :-)

It's gotten a tad better. I still think I may indulge in a beer tonight when I get home.

At this point, I don't think my $50 purchase plus songs means shit to the economy. But sure, let's call it that. :-)
I got the blue 1GB shuffle. Already playing with it. It will be great when I go running.
So excited! :hyper:

This weather sucks. Got to walk halfway across campus in a thunderstorm when the wind shredded my umbrella. Now there's talk of a tornado to the south of us in Lewisville. Frakkin sweet.
-
So much for snow flurries tonight, with no accumulation.
It's been coming down like it's going out of style since about 15:30 - 16:00 this afternoon, and I have at least 1 1/2 inches on the ground. Unless we have a 60 degree day coming tomorrow, this stuff is sticking around (and being added upon with the storm due in thursday/friday.)
-
Well, isn't this just great? My macaw Pepper just laid her third egg. :lmao:
I guess I SHOULD start seeing about finding a male green-wing to breed her with (without actually buying the male), and share the profits from the babies with the male's owner. :p (Although that would be hard, given I'd be so tempted to keep all the babies to myself. :uhsure: :innocent: )
-
My mom's husband wanted to breed their two Chinese Cresteds.
She said NO. :lmao:

Thank GOD! (No offense, but that is an ugly breed. :o I think all the dogs that have won the World's Ugliest Dog contest have been from that breed).

They have the Powderpuff variety... they have a full single coat of hair. They're adorable.

Missing my critters, and kind of sad realizing that it'll STILL be another 19 days until I get home again. While the weather was warm, I didn't get to see much of it. I showed up to work at my usual hour of 6 am, and promptly went into the plant to do another day of mind-numbing limit switch checks. Followed that up by dressing out in anti-C's (anti-contamination suit) only to be pulled at the last minute from doing a job inside the drywell, where I would have gotten about 100 mr in an hour or so.
No per diem check yet either. So I'm broke, sitting in a hotel room in Iowa, waiting for it to freeze again tomorrow, and to top it all off I found out a co-worker who retired last year and took to the road with is in critical condition in a Mississippi hospital because his wagon was hit from behind by a semi.

So while I'm tired and a bit depressed, Bob is most definitely in my thoughts and prayers tonight.
-
Damn, sorry to hear that NHSparky. :(

It could be worse for you. You COULD be sleeping in your vehicle or a tent!! :o
Sorry to hear about your friend

Sorry to hear about your friend, NHS...prayer said.

Looks like 50's "down here" where I work, with off and on rain. Up at the house, I think we are on the edge of the snow line, so slush all over.
