I googled it and Verizon did finally acknowledge their error. Still hilarious though.

Well, that's good.  I hope they gave their employees a refresher in basic math and money calculations.  I still find it unfathomable that the guy led these people through the logic of the difference between half a dollar and half a cent and they still didn't understand the difference between 0.0002 dollars and 0.0002 cents.

Companies like Verizon don't hire math genius's to work at their customer service call centers.

That's probably very true, but you don't even have to be a math genius (I'm not) to understand the difference.

We have a Verizon call center here.  Their "job fair" advertisement says you have to have a 2-year degree for them to consider hiring you.  They don't mention what field the degree has to be in.
